I cannot believe that it is June already. Seriously, it seems like we were in the shop painting the floor just a week ago! Things are really bustling at the shop these days. Tonight, as I sit here in the office, I am happily listening to the chatter coming from the porch. The ladies here for our UFO night are busy contemplating life and solving world problems. I for one am happy that they are taking on the challenge! This issue of Around the Village brings with it our most recent class list. The classes listed within are sure to wet your appetite for creative expression. Additionally, we have added something a little different. On July 16th we are offering a Mystery Quilt class. No one knows, even me, what the quilt looks like. I just love a good mystery! I can t wait to shop for my fabrics. Kelly is back with three different bag classes. Hexie friends, I think the Sew Together Bag or the Classmate Bag will be the perfect bag to carry around our hexie supplies. (Be aware that not all machines were designed to machine quilt, but each machine is worth a try!) You will learn how to start and stop your quilting threads and do basic even-feed (including stitch-in-the-ditch) and free motion quilting. We ll discuss different quilting threads and needles and how to adjust your machine s tension. A basic beginner s class for learning the art of paper piecing. Our project will be a block that you can repeat & make into a beautiful wall hanging. You will leave loving to paper piece. Jo is a maker of small reproduction quilts and has numerous fabric lines. She has developed a club with club member exclusive patterns. Each meeting begins with a short program by Karen featuring some interesting history of the quilts of this time period. Tea & Applique Club Tuesday 7/5 & 8/2.
