The keys to Instagram success boils down to mainly two things: Content and Interaction. You need both things to grow your account. Content is how your account appears to the public, and Interaction is how you interact with other users. Content includes things like posts, captions, bios, and profile pictures. Interaction includes things like following, commenting, liking, and shout-outs. I ve noticed a trend in smaller accounts. Oftentimes, I will see accounts that put out great content but have terrible interaction (or engagement), and vice-versa. When you are starting out on Instagram, you must put just as much effort in content as you do in engagement. For some reason, people think that their content can be good enough that you don t need to interact with others, and that s not true. You can post the best content in the world, but if you aren t promoting it: You won t gain followers. People won t see it. And similarly, you can follow thousands of people and like thousands of photos but if your content isn t appealing, nobody will follow you. That s just the way it is. As I will discuss later, content and interaction do play different roles depending how many followers you have. In this section, my goal is to provide a lot of pictures to help you conceptualize the ideas that I m bringing forth. Writing down what something is, is one thing but seeing it is another. And besides, who doesn t like picture books?

When selecting a username, it s important to find a brandable, memorable name. Avoid using periods, underscores, and numbers if possible. It s better to use a unique name than a generic, forgettable one. This is an example of what not to do. Finding a more creative name would help build a brand for the account. Building a brand also helps monetize the followers later on. This is another example of what not to do. Instead of using three descriptive words in her username, she should instead change it to something related to her own name. A better username would help elevate her brand. With over four hundred million users, good Instagram usernames are becoming harder and harder to find every day. Think of Instagram usernames like domain names. If someone visits your site and wants to come back in the future, the user will more likely remember your website if it s called www.apple.com opposed to www.bigred-juicyapple.xyz.

Whenever you set up a new account, you should be aiming to get a short, simple, and (most importantly) catchy username that will look authoritative in a user's activity feed and also be easy to remember. Which account would you be more likely to follow back? OR I've tried out a lot of tools, bots, websites and username checkers in the past that all claim to be the best way to "snipe" usernames, but the method I am about to share with you is honestly the best, and it's saved me hundreds of hours. Now, this may surprise you, but I use a domain name suggestions website to come up with username ideas. The site, Leandomainsearch, takes a keyword you put in, runs it through its algorithm, and then comes out with literally thousands of two-word username ideas. Most of the great 1 word usernames are already taken, but you can still grab some awesome usernames by using tools like LeanDomainSearch.com

This tool is not only good because it gives you ideas and inspiration for your Instagram username, but it also tells you whether the domain and twitter username are available, giving you the option to expand your brand further down the line. The only downside to this tool is that it doesn't show you whether the Instagram @ is actually available or not, but you can easily find that out with a quick search (Go to instagram.com/[ideal Username] Picking a Niche This section has been modified for the PDF preview of Influx. To read the full version, please purchase Influx. There are two types of accounts to create personal accounts and niche accounts. A personal account on Instagram would be an account modeled after the account holder, and a niche account would be modeled after a thing or idea. You might be asking yourself, What type of Instagram account should I create? That s a fair question, and here s what I recommend for everyone: Do something you love. Whether you are creating your first Instagram account or your 1,000th, I highly suggest you create accounts that you will always be engaged with. Create accounts that you will be passionate about. Create accounts that you will care for daily. Your accounts are your babies. If you love soccer, create soccer accounts. If you love making money, create luxury and motivational accounts. If you love working out, create fitness accounts. It's so simple. If you are a vegetarian, don't create accounts about eating meat. It doesn't make sense. If you don't care enough about it in real life, then you won't care enough about it in social media. You will have to be knowledgeable in the accounts you create. If you don t know the latest fashion trends, then you ll probably do a poor job owning a fashion account on Instagram. If you have little to no ambition towards fitness, then your healthy lifestyle personal account probably won t get very far. In another sense, you should create accounts that you will know how to monetize. If you don t know how to monetize your followers don t worry we ll get to that later. I'm not saying that when you start an account you must have a 10-page business plan, but you should have a general idea on how to profit from it.

Also, understand this - just because you love a niche doesn't mean it's necessarily profitable. Just because you are highly interested and engaged with African aardvarks, doesn't mean there is an audience for African aardvark enthusiasts on Instagram (but don't let me kill your dreams). Do your research to make sure similar accounts on Instagram are monetizing their followers in a similar fashion. That ll give you a good idea if you can as well. Don t be afraid to use unconventional niches! You might be surprised how large your audience is! This account has more than doubled since I screenshotted this picture. Her engagement levels are close to 15%, and I m sure she is making good money from promoting her amazon affiliate link!

This section was taken from a later chapter, but it s a great sneak peak into a small portion of the advanced Instagram methods I use for insane Instagram growth! Use Private S4S For Massive Growth It s no secret that shout-outs can either be a hit or miss that s especially true for smaller Instagram entrepreneurs who just want to get their name out there. If you re a rookie on Instagram, the chances are you ve paid for some unsuccessful shout-outs. Wondering what you re doing wrong? There could be numerous issues with your shout-out, but the best way to get more follows is by going private right before the shout-out. If doing engagement groups aren t the best way to grow, then private S4S is. This is probably the most commonly used tactic right now for growth. There are two ways to go about this. 1.) You pay for a shout out from another account. You go private before you get shouted out. 2.) You swap shout-outs with another account. You both go private before the shoutout, and you post at the exact same time. Typically, every time you post a shout-out you ll lose followers, but when you are also receiving a shout-out you end up gaining a TON. Here s what this looks like:

It s such a simple idea, yet nobody executes this. This works better than public profiles because it creates a sense of intrigue. More people are likely to scroll through a page and not follow it if it s a public profile. When it s private, much more people are likely to follow. Try this out the next time you get a shout-out. It also helps if the person giving you a shoutout creates a call to action that recognizes your account is private. A common call-to-action caption I see would be something like: Check them out!
