Research Intern Director of Research We are seeking a summer intern to support the team to develop prototype 3D sensing systems based on state-of-the-art sensing technologies along with computer vision and machine learning algorithms. The intern will: Develop prototype 3D recognition/tracking/mapping algorithms and frameworks Develop/train/test machine learning algorithms for 3D recognition tasks in surgical scenarios Explore sensor fusion algorithms to improve the framework. Experiment with several users and clinical advisors to iterate the design based on feedback and performance. Graduate-level study in computer science, electrical engineering or robotics with emphasis on computer vision and machine learning. Good hands on C++/Python/Matlab skills. Good hands on experience with a few of the state of the art machine learning algorithms Good hands on experience with computer vision algorithms and libraries. Experience with GPU accelerated algorithms and implementation. Experience with integrating software libraries from third parties into custom applications. A good working knowledge of sensor fusion algorithms is a plus. Self-starter and able to work in a collaborative and results oriented environment. Develop, build, and test prototypes in an industrial research environment. Gain experience with state of the are 3D sensing technologies/systems/algorithms Gain hands-on experience with a robot-assisted surgery platform while integrating and testing prototype technologies. Intern Managing Principal, Software Engineering We are seeking a summer intern to join the Research team. The intern will assist in the implementation, documentation, and testing of the next generation product development environments. Development and evaluation of high quality prototype concepts. Development of novel Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) concepts to integrate with future products. Development of a modular software framework to explore various AR and MR concepts on display technologies from various vendors. Perform usability testing and generate reports that help guide the future development. Computer science, Mechatronics, or Robotics focus. Exposure to Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) or Mixed Reality (MR) concepts, hardware, and tools. Experience with, OpenGL, OpenCV and Matlab is a plus. A good working knowledge with Unity, C, C++, UWP, Visual studio tools. Hands on experience with AR development tool kits such as ARKit, Vuforia and ARToolKit. Experience in integrating third-party software libraries into custom applications. Strong math and analytical skills. Knowledge of linear algebra, computer graphics and computational robotics. Hands-on engineering skills with a proven ability to work well in a team environment. Self-starter and able to work in a collaborative and results oriented environment. Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral) with the team.

Gain experience in research and evaluation of novel AR and MR concepts for computerassisted surgical systems. Gain hands-on experience with a robot-assisted surgery platform while integrating and testing prototype technologies. Summer of 2018.

Intern Director, Research We are seeking a summer intern to support the Team in implementing and testing technologies that will enable next generation robotic surgery platforms. The intern will prototype and test novel registration techniques with the following responsibilities: Build a robust and generalized registration framework that can be used to experiment with research platforms under development. Integrate existing research prototypes into this new framework. Perform a survey of off-the-shelf motion tracking technologies. Select 1-3 promising sensing technologies, bring them in-house, and integrate them into the framework. Explore sensor fusion algorithms to improve the framework. Experiment with several users and clinical advisors to iterate the design based on feedback and performance. Document learning and transfer knowledge to the team. Graduate-level study in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, robotics, or computer science with an emphasis on kinematics. Experience with motion tracking, sensor fusion, and spatial kinematics. Experience developing software applications in MATLAB and C. A good working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks) and rapid prototyping. Self-starter and able to work in a collaborative and results oriented environment. Develop, build, and test prototypes in an industrial research environment. Learn about principles and technologies that aid in registration and how they may be applied to surgery. either Spring or Summer of 2018.
