PRESENTATION DESCRIPTIONS AND SPEAKER BIOS Lawrence Taylor, Schindler Elevator Thursday 8:00am-9:30 am National Electrical Code and 17.1 Relationship BIO: Lawrence Taylor has been in the electrical and elevator business for 46 years. He is a NEIEP Certified Elevator Mechanic, IAEI Certified Electrical Inspector, a QEI Certified Elevator Inspector, a Texas licensed Elevator Inspector and a Texas Master Electrician. Mr. Taylor is the retired Chief Elevator Inspector for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and is the longest serving Chief in Texas history. He is a veteran having served in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions and the 12th Combat Aviation Group. He is currently a Codes and Standards Officer for Schindler Elevator Corporation based in Austin, TX Mark Yako, GAL Thursday 9:30 am-10:30am Unintended Movement and Uncontrolled Ascent BIO: Has been in the elevator industry since 1984, starting as a helper for Otis Elevator. Transition to sales in 1990 gaining experience as on both a contractor and vendor representative with each increase in responsibilities. Brian Rausch- State of Thursday 11:00am-12:30 pm Code updates BIO: Brian is responsible for reviewing installation drawings for compliance with applicable codes and standards related to conveyances, and for review and approval of new products and systems for use in. He serves as an advisor to the Conveyance Code Councils. He provides code consultation and training to the elevator, building design and construction industries. Brian is a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering with a bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He holds state elevator and building inspector credentials and has been with the State of WI for over 12 years

Charlie Slater- ATIS Thursday 11:00am-12:30 pm Inspection Methods BIO: Currently Director of Operations for ATIS since 5/1/2014. Was president of A-1 Elevator Inspection, Inc. since 2007-2014. Duties include managing overall operations of A-1 including the hiring and training of elevator inspectors. Also perform elevator/escalator periodic inspections, test witnessing, and consulting services. Certified by NAESA Int l as a Qualified Elevator Inspector # C-3953 in 2008 Florida Certified Elevator Inspector (CEI) # 398 Have a family history in the elevator industry. My family founded Sunrise Elevator Co, Inc. in 1987 along with Voyager Controls Inc., which produces LU certified elevator controls, in 1995 and A-1 Elevator Inspection, Inc. in 2000. Bill Snyder- VTE Solutions Thursday 4:00 pm- 5:30 pm A17.2 Recommended inspections and procedures updates BIO: Bill Snyder is a member of the A17.1 Main Standards Committee, A17.2 Inspectors Committee & QEI-1 Committee in addition to being a NFPA & IAEC member for many years. Bill has been continuously certified through NAESA as a Certified Elevator Inspector for 30 years while continuously performing inspections on elevator equipment. Bill has been a NAESA instructor for over 15 years teaching QEI Classes and continuing education classes across the US.

Jack Day-NAESA Friday 8:00am-9:00 am How to use the inspection handbook BIO: Jack Day has taken a position with NAESA International as the Educational Director and fulltime instructor. Bob attended Kutztown State College where he majored in Elementary Education, but left college after three years to enter the elevator industry. He is QEI Certified since 2004 and is a member of the A17 Standards Committee and the Inspections, Maintenance Repair/Replacement, Guide for Emergency Personnel, Qualified Elevator Inspector, Inclined Elevators, Escalator/Moving Walk committees and the Regulatory Authority Committee/Contributing Member My focus in life after family is: Elevator Safety for All!

Geraldine Burdeshaw Friday 10:30 am-11:30 am Code Cases as well as how to submit interpretations BIO: Geraldine Burdeshaw joined the ASME Standards and Certification staff in 1991 and is currently serving as a Project Engineering Advisor. Ms. Burdeshaw is responsible for providing staff technical support to various standards development committees under the Safety Codes and Standards Department of ASME, which includes the A17 Elevator and Escalator Committee. For over the past 20 years, Ms. Burdeshaw has had the responsibility of providing technical and administrative support for the A17 Elevator and Escalator Standards Committee, subcommittees and its associated products, including the ASME A17.1/CSA B44, Safety Codes for Elevators and Escalators. Ms. Burdeshaw is a graduate with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University Class of 1990.
