Economic Impact in the Eagle Ford Shale Market Area As reported by The Workforce Commission of Texas & Texas A & M University Eagle Ford Center The economic study of 14 counties in the Eagle Ford Shale area portrays a detailed image of the challenges & opportunities emerging from drilling & production activities in South Texas. How do the employers in this market area house their employees &/or what sort of housing is needed or wanted? How do workers want to live while working in the Eagle Ford Shale area? In 2010, the Eagle Ford Shale generated 6,800 full-time jobs & paid $311 million in salaries & benefits. When spinoff jobs are included from wholesalers to waiters development in the shale play supported 12,600 jobs & paid $512 million in salaries. In 2011, the companies operating in the Eagle Ford Shale had significant impacts in the 14-county area & surrounding counties. These impacts translated into more than $19.2 billion in output, 38,000 full-time jobs supported, close to $10.5 billion in gross regional product, $211.0 million in local governments revenues, & $312.0 million in state revenues. By the year 2021, the Eagle Ford Shale could produce close to $62.1 billion n output, support close to 82,600 full-time jobs, produce close to $34.0 billion in gross regional product, & add approximately $888 million in local governments revenues & $1.6 billion in state revenues.
