Paula s Corner Here is one of those quilting stories you will never believe, but it is true! The weekend of October 18th we had our first retreat at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tinley Park. We were in the conference room on the first floor. The public bathrooms were right outside our door. As a result we had many people very interested in what we were doing. Some thought it was a class, some thought it was a "sewing marathon" and others wondered if we were sewing for charity. So when a woman walked in and asked if we were quilters, I was not surprised. She right away told me she was a quilter too. She was dressed in a strange attire. She had on a polo shirt with the words "The BUNCO CLUB" by Karen De Witt. On her wrist was a bracelet of dice and earrings which matched. Her excitement was because she was on her way home from a book signing. She was the author of THE BUNCO CLUB and stopped in at our hotel to go to the rest room! To her surprise there was a room full of quilters! The quilting GODS were at work! She then told us her book was about eight quilters from Chicagoland that gather once a month to play Bunco! Laurel Quinn asked her if she had any books that we could Email: topshelfquilts@yahoo.com purchase. Off to her car she went. She signed her books as we bought them. As I was sitting there I thought I would love for her to come to the shop, explain her book and have a book signing. So I asked her. She said yes and December 12th at 6 PM we will have our book signing with treats and a fun night for all. Make sure you mark your calendar and come to our book signing. You must come, after all, the Quilting Gods brought us together! 1
