Subspace Telegraph From the XO s Desktop I wanted to take a look at what is coming up in the New Year for the Susquehannock. First our membership is 35, this is the highest that it has even been since we started the chapter. So we are off to a good start for the New Year. It is clear last year was very good for us but again I want to look ahead to the upcoming year. We have the Superbowl party that is set to take place the first Sunday in February. This event will be hosted by Oliver and Tina. It has become a tradition and it is always a great time I m sure that this year we will have a great time also. Following that there is Farpoint. It is a convention in Maryland. It is small but every year our chapter has a great time and turn out for this event. We get to meet with several other STARFLEET chapters and there is the Regional meeting. The guests include writer Alan Dean Foster, Melissa McBride of Walking Dead and Phil LaMarr who has done a lot of voice over work for several shows. We have several members interested in going to the Creation con in Philly this year. Doris and I went last year and we had a ball. That year they had all of the DS9 stars there so Doris & I along with several chapter members got to see many of them. We also got to hang out with a few members of some other STARFLEET chapters. Being the only chapter in central PA it is fun and enjoyable to meet up with other chapters. Creation con takes place on the last weekend in April. Also in April on the first weekend is the Central PA Comic Con. This takes place in the Harrisburg area and in Lancaster is the Amazicon. We have members going to both events. Doris and I are going to Amazicon on Friday and then manning a table at the Comic con Saturday and Sunday. There is also the Steel city con on the second weekend in April and some members want to go to it. One of the annual events that we do is the yearly picnic this takes place at the Cress household and Joe cooks up burgers for everyone. Everyone brings in a lot of great food. This event is held in late July. This is an annual event that dates back to the beginning of the Chapter. The First weekend in August is Shore Leave. This is one of the main events in the year. We have a large turnout for this and it is a blow out for us. We always have 8-12 members get rooms at the hotel and we have 6-8 members come in for the Saturday. There always is something fun to do and they always have interesting stars come to the con. One of the biggest events of our calendar is the Susquehannock Sci-Fi Day this is an event that we run. (Doris puts a ton of work into it year round) This year will be the Fourth Annual Sci-fi Day. It is set to take place at Grumps Books in Harrisburg on September 26 th. It is a lot of work but everyone has a great time. There is some talk about going back to the U.S. Marine Corps Museum. Several of our members wanted to return to it and we had several STARFLEET members from other chapters interested in taking part. We are also talking about doing a gaming day at That Gaming Place. Doris has done some back ground work on it and it should take place sometime in March. Some other traps/away missions that are being talked about are going back to Goddard, the next time we are hoping to arrange going through some of the building that are used in building the equipment/crafts that are sent into space. There is also interest in going to a wolf Sanctuary, the Tome of the Unknown Soldier and Star Gazing, It looks like we are going to have an eventful year ahead of us. Bring your creativity to help us plot our course for 2014. Superbowl Party will be at Oliver and Tina Maxwell s House on Sunday, February 2 time to be announced. Bring a dish to share with the crew. Farpoint will be Saturday, February 15. We re hoping to get down to Farpoint by 9AM so we can attend the Starfleet meeting. Remember, Awards season is about to start!

Page 2 Subspace Telegraph Star Trek Attack Wing Review by Rachel Fisher Inside Story Headline Reviews by Scott Taylor Doctor Who The Last Day - This mini episode takes us to the second city of Gallifry, Arcadia. There we see through the eyes of a guard as the Dalek begin their final attack. Quite interesting. A Very Klingon Khristmas by Paul Ruditis and Patrick Faricy Gallery Books $16.99 We humans appear to keep stealing things from the Klingons. First, it was Shakespeare. Now it is Christmas. Here we have the classic Twas the Night Before Christmas told in the form of a Klingon tale. It is quite funny and the illustrations are Rockwell-like. A great book. The Doctor has finality traced his missing companions and learned that Adam has an ally, the Master. Very Goode. Here we meet him as a young survivor at the farm town of Umbria where he saves Adama s life. He meets Apollo and Athena, six years later, when he wants to enter the colonial service. We meet his flight instructor, on the Pegasus and go on his first day as Colonial Warrior. A good beginning.
