A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO HOST A SUCCESSFUL BARKE SALE caninesnkids.org

LET S GET THIS BARKE SALE STARTED! We are so happy and grateful you will plan and hold a BARKE SALETM to help put an end to the cancers kids and man s best friend both develop! This brochure lays out every step so you can reach your goal and have lots of fun in the process. If you need help, please don t hesitate to reach out via email at info@caninesnkids.org or call 703-835-4345. The very first thing you need to do is register your BARKE SALE at www.caninesnkids.org. We will need the following information to complete your registration: o When & where you want to hold your BARKE SALE o A little about you and what is inspiring you to host a BARKE SALE o What is your goal for your event? Be bold and creative! Think about ways you can reach and even exceed your goal! Once you have completed and submitted the BARKE SALE registration page, you will o Receive an email confirming your registration o Within 3 days, we will prepare and send you a link to your online BARKE SALE Fundraising page. Send this link to everyone you know to let them know about your BARKE SALE!

IDEAS TO HELP YOU MEET OR EXCEED YOUR BARKE SALE GOALS HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO HELP MAKE YOUR BARKE SALE A SUCCESS! Make your own treats for people and pets. Use the stickers in your BARKE SALE Kit to make your packaging look even more festive. In addition to any treats you make, you can also ask a local bakery to donate some themed cupcakes or cookies with hearts, dog bones, etc. You can thank them with a small table sign at your BARKE SALE. Thank supporters who make a $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 or higher donation. Personalize a BARKE SALE Donation Certificate with their name and place it on a poster board at your BARKE SALE. We will send you some of these in your kit, or you can download the template from the BARKE SALE site. Ask a local coffee shop to donate coffee or tea to your event or bring thermoses of hot water and offer cocoa packets to go with your treats! In warmer months, serve juice and cold water. If you have a friend who has battled, or is battling childhood cancer invite them as your special guest and tell their story. Make a poster with pictures of dogs or kids you know who have battled cancer (or are battling cancer) and honor these in a Hearts-N-Tails Tribute

SHARING THE GOOD NEWS OF YOUR BARKE SALE You are helping the two things we all love the most, our precious kids and our beloved furry best friends to beat cancer. People like hearing about others doing good! Look at the helpful downloadable materials on our Get Ready for Your BARKE SALE page of the Canines-N-Kids website. Share your personal Fundraising Page through email and social media. We have downloadable social media graphics available online! Ask your family, friends and people in your community (celebrities, the news media, etc.) to share your event on their social media pages. Create your BARKE SALE fundraiser on Facebook for Canines-N-Kids Foundation (@caninesnkids) Make your own posters announcing your event or use the downloadable posters provided on the Getting Ready for Your BARKE SALE webpage.

GET READY FOR BARKE SALE DAY Invite others to help you Get your family and friends excited for your BARKE SALE. Let them help you bake and prepare for your BARKE SALE. BARKE SALE Necessities Your baked goodies and drinks for people and furry friends Table and table cloth Cups, napkins, and dog bowl for water Fliers & Postcards about the Canines-N-Kids Foundation (provided in your kit and/or downloadable on our BARKE SALE page) A place to put donations (tissue or shoe box with a slit in the top works great) Any signs or posters you have made or downloaded Have a Great Time at Your BARKE SALE Remember to explain that you are helping kids and man s best friend beat cancer they both share and that proceeds are helping the Canines-N-Kids Foundation fund important cancer research that can help bring new medicines and a cure for BOTH. Let your passion about why you are doing this shine through! A Few other notes: If you need a Certificate of Insurance before hosting your event, please let us know 10 days in advance of your BARKE SALE and we will provide you one. Once you have completed your BARKE SALE, count the cash donations that you received and send a personal check or money order for the amount made payable to Canines-N-Kids Foundation. Please do not send cash. If you wish to make a personal donation to Canines-N-Kids, please write a separate check so that we can send you a thank you and a tax receipt as an individual donor.
