PRE-PRODUCTION IDEA SCRIPT STORYBOARD Core foundation of making a great movie. Summary of a storyline. Expansion of the idea. Thoroughly written script of everything happening on stage (in camera). Guideline during production stage. Visual representation of the script. Guideline during production & postproduction stage.

ACTIVITY CREATE AN IDEA BOOK Assignment: Idea Book Write down at least 10 ideas with a one-sentenced storyline. Have one storyline ready for tomorrow!

Genre - What are the themes of the movie? Film Style & Genre The style of the film should be in line with the genre Think about: Fiction or Non-Fiction? Action, Comedy, Romance, Sci-Fi...

Audience - Who are your viewers? Film Style & Audience Style of the film changes with the audience because: Different Audience = Different Expectations Think about: Children Comedy Youth Comedy Adult Comedy Why should we care? Audience gives feedback, criticism, budget Most importantly someone who will watch your movie

Time - How long is your film? Film Style & Time Time changes the style of storytelling Think about: YouTube Video (5 min) Short Film (30 min) Movie (2 hrs) YouTube Video = To the point Short Film = Basic Storyline Movie = Detailed Storyline

Resources - What do you have? Film Style & Resources Resources limits the visual presentation of your film ex) Sci-Fi film. Special effects. Think about: Do you have enough budget? Do you have the materials to make what you imagine happen? Few ways to gain resources Make a budget list Be Creative

And finally PERSONAL STYLE

Personal Style - What do you have? Film Style & Personal Style Personal style create unique films Think about: Tim Burton Movies Personal preference Favourite Movie/Director If you like it, just do it. BUT: - Keep it consistent - Only if you re the director of the film.

Grab 3 buddies (so a group of 4) GROUP ACTIVITY Genre 1 person from each group grab a list from Ms. Hong CREATE A FILM STYLE BASED ON THE HIGHLIGHTED WORDS: Brainstorm as a group, and fill out the worksheet Present at the end of class.
