NEEDLEWORK Dover Building Superintendent: Betty Louise Myers Honorary Superintendent: Anne Minner Assistant Superintendents: Clay Beauchamp, Jean Callaway, Tammy Geidel, Karen Heyd, Amy Jones, Jennifer Menard, Emily Shank, Susan Shank and Dana Sharpe Entries can only be made online via the Delaware State Fair s website beginning 9:00 AM April 1, 2015 thru 11:59 PM June 1, 2015. Late entries will not be accepted. In order for the Delaware State Fair to better prepare for all exhibits, we ask that you only enter those classes which you will be able to complete and show at this year s Fair. All exhibits will be accepted from 10:00AM until 3:00PM, Saturday, July 18 th. Judging will begin in the department at 9:00 AM Tuesday, July 21 st. All entries must be removed between 8:00 AM and Noon on Sunday, August 2 nd. Exhibits may not be removed before this time. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: The Dover Building will open daily from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. (except when there is judging in the department). Exhibitors in this department are asked to read and observe the rules governing this department. NEW IN 2015: A. Entry tags will NOT be sent out to exhibitors. B. You must bring a copy of your Showorks receipt when you bring your items for check in at the fairgrounds. You may have a copy of the Quick Response matrix barcode ( QR Code ) from your Showorks receipt available for scanning on your smartphone or tablet. C. Exhibitors will be checked in via the Showorks QR Code and entry tags will be printed onsite. D. Exhibitors must securely attach tags to their items with the assistance of Department Personnel. (Entries will not be accepted by department personnel until entry tags are securely affixed.) 1. Exhibitors in this department must be 17 years of age or older. 2. Read over premium list carefully and decide what class your article belongs in before you enter it. Be sure to mark your exhibit correctly to avoid misunderstandings. 3. Entry tags will be tied or safety pinned to each article. 4. Exhibits for competition must be the personal work of the exhibitor and must be owned by the exhibitor at the time of entry. Exhibitors name and dates should be covered. 5. Exhibits must be the current year s work of the exhibitor and must be new, clean, free from odor of pets or smoking, and completely presentable. Maker s name and dates should be covered. 6. Only one entry per exhibitor per class will be accepted. 7. No article may be entered if it has been exhibited at this Fair previously. We must depend upon the cooperation and integrity of the exhibitor. 8. Articles having no competition will be awarded premiums only if they are worthy in the opinion of the judges. Judges will be asked to make comments on the back of the entry tag for the benefit of the exhibitors. 9. All entries must be the work of an amateur exhibitor who does not use this as a means of income or teach a class in the section they may be entering within the Needlework Department. Exhibits may be mailed to the Administration Building at the following address: The Delaware State Fair, Inc., Attn: Needlework Department, P.O. Box 28, Harrington, DE 19952, PRIOR to Saturday, July 18 th. For those exhibitors mailing in their exhibits: Return postage must accompany all entries that are mailed.
