Board of Governors (BOG) Members Eligible for Re-appointment 2017-18 Nancy Brown Andison and Alumni Nancy Brown Andison is a retired Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers and an Executive of IBM Canada. A graduate of the University of Guelph (Bachelor of Science in Agriculture) and Queen's University (MBA), Nancy is also a graduate of the Chartered Directors Program (C.Dir) at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. Nancy's career has focused on consulting and project management, including systems implementation services to public sector agencies in Ontario and Canada. Nancy s consulting experience includes work in public policy, business strategy and transformation, finance, human resource management, and all aspects of information technology. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario 4-H Foundation, Farm Radio International (FRI), City of Peterborough Holdings Inc., and Dancemakers, a Toronto contemporary creative dance centre. Currently she serves on the Board of Directors of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Association.
Paul Gibson Paul s professional experience includes executive Human Resource leadership roles for diverse firms such as Mattamy Homes, Fidelity Investments, Palliser Furniture and Noma Industries. In addition, he has led operating and marketing functions as President of Commercial Centres with Mattamy, accountable for the development, construction, leasing and management of a portfolio of commercial and retail centres. Paul s industry experiences include financial services, manufacturing, retail, construction, import, technology, real estate, packaging, printing, consumer goods, and the automotive industry. A Certified Director through the Institute of Corporate Directors, Paul serves on the Boards of Proceco Ltd. and Mohawk Shared Services Inc. He has served as a Board Director or Advisor for a variety of organizations such as West Park Healthcare Centre, The Goodman School of Business, The Salvation Army, Halton Learning Foundation, Burlington Art Centre, Storytellers School of Toronto, The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, and Special Olympics and Boy & Girls Clubs of Ontario. Paul is a former instructor in strategic human resource management for Ryerson University, a past Director of the Human Resource Professionals Association, a past member of the Special Experts Panel on Employee Relations for the US-based Society of Human Resource Management, and has been a chair & speaker at numerous conferences as well as a commentator on human resources related matters for CBC Radio.
Board of Trustees (BOT) Member Eligible for Re-appointment 2017-18 Virginia McLaughlin Virginia currently serves as a trustee on the Boards of the University of Guelph and the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology and is Chair of the Cancer Quality Council for Ontario. She is also Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel 25 (Toronto) Field Ambulance. She is past Chair of the Board of Board of Directors, Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, of the Governance Leadership Council of the Ontario Hospital Association and several other organizations. She has been a member of the investment committees of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Holland Bloorview Children's Hospital and Trinity College of University of Toronto. In private life she is President of Helmhorst Investments Limited and Ferdinand Holdings Limited, two family owned investment companies.
Paul English Paul English is the Senior Vice President, Investments for the Equitable Life of Canada. In that role he is responsible for all investment activities including strategy development, portfolio management, asset origination and management, and administration. The portfolio includes public equities and bonds, private debt and equity instruments, commercial mortgages as well as a real estate portfolio. Recently the Investment Division has added several investment mandates for third party customers. Prior to joining Equitable in 2007, Paul worked at two major Canadian insurance companies in a variety of increasingly senior investment roles in both the US and Canada. In aggregate, Paul has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Paul is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has an undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of Toronto. Investment Subcommittee (ISC) Members Eligible for Re-appointment 2017-18 Ed Cass Ed is responsible for overall fund level investment strategy. He chairs the Investment Planning Committee, which approves all new investment programs and oversees all portfolio risks, including passive, active, credit and liquidity risk. Ed has been with the CPP Investment Board since 2008, initially heading up the Global Capital Markets group during the financial crisis. He then subsequently headed up the Global Corporate Securities group and then the Global Tactical Asset Allocation team, all within the Public Market Investments department. Prior to joining CPPIB, he was Managing Director and Co-Chief Investment Officer for Fortress Investment Group s Drawbridge Relative Value Fund where he was responsible for the development and execution of fixed income, currency, stock index and commodity trading strategies. With over 15 years of investment experience, Ed previously held senior positions at Deutsche Bank Canada and TD Securities. Ed holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Theoretical Physics from Queen s University and a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School.
