Messe Muenchen India Show 26-28 September 2018 POST SHOW REPORT
INAGURATION IPC India, (a wholly owned subsidiary of IPC,USA) co-located and participated in the trade fair electronica India and productronica India Show scheduled on 26-28 September 2018 at BIEC, Bengaluru. The electronica - productronica fair is one of the most important industry gatherings for the electronics industry in Asia. The trade fair showcased products such as Semiconductors, Embedded systems, Displays and LED, Micro and nano systems, Sensor technology, Test and measurement, Passive components, PCBs, other circuit carriers, Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and 3D Printing. Over 600 exhibitors showcased their products and an estimate of 25,000+ visitors took part in the event. The event was inaugurated by the dignitaries, Mr. Tom Chiu Executive Member of HKPCA, Mr. Nam Wonki Secretary General of WECC & representative of KPCA, Mr. Amrit Manwani President, ELCINA, Mr. Bhupinder Singh CEO, MMI, Mr. Falk Senger MD, Messe Muenchen, Mr. Kushal Patel President, IPCA, Mr. Wu Shou Kun - President, CPCA, Mr. Richard Chu - Consultant, TPCA and Mr. A Vijayendra Managing Director, IPC India. IPC India Hand Soldering Competition was inaugurated by Mr. Ramachandran MD, MELSS, Mr. Scott Pringle Sales Director, Indium Corporation, Mr. Paresh Vasani Managing Director, PCB Power, Mr. Bhupinder Singh CEO, MMI, Mr. Falk Senger MD, Messe Muenchen and Mr. Emiliano Vega Sales Manager, JBC Soldering Tools Co.
HAND SOLDERING COMPETITION - PRELIMINARY ROUND IPC India conducted the skill development contest, Hand Soldering Competition to the electronic industry technocrats on 26 th and 27 th September 2018. About 45 technicians competed in the preliminary round to showcase their expertise on the reliability of the electronic equipment and zero-defect soldering process. The competence of the assembly process was judged by the Master Trainers in accordance with the IPC-A-610G Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly is produced and the overall electrical functionality of the assembly. M/s. JBC Soldering Tools Co. was our prime sponsor for the Hand Soldering Competition while PCBs were sponsored by M/s. PCB Power, ESD tables were sponsored by M/s. SDM Technologies. M/s. Indium Corporation and MEL Systems and Services Ltd. were our consumable sponsors. The Winner was Mr. Bharath from M/s. Kaynes Technologies. The Runner-up was Mr. Boregowda from M/s. Kaynes Technologies. The prize distribution honours were done by Mr. Bhupinder Singh CEO, MMI and Mr. Frederic Derrien Sales Executive, JBC Soldering Tools Co. respectively.
HAND SOLDERING COMPETITION - INDIA CHAMPIONSHIP The winners and runners-up from the previous preliminary rounds earned the eligibility to vie in the final round to win an opportunity to represent India at the Global Hand Soldering Competition to be conducted during January 2019 at San Diego, USA. The final round was scheduled on 28 th September 2018 and a duration of 60 minutes was given to the contestants to contend for the top honours. India Championship was won by Mr. Kantharaju from M/s. Bharat Electronics Limited. The trophy was given by Mr. Frederic Derrien Sales Executive and Mr. Anand Selvaraj Sales Manager, South India, JBC Soldering Tools Co.
PCB DESIGN COMPETITION IPC India organized PCB Design Competition for the first time at MMI Show. The initial round was conducted offline where the participants designed the PCB schematics during two weeks time and the evaluation was done as per the IPC Designer Standard. Panel of Judges included Ms. Savita R Ganjigati from Sienna Ecad Technologies, Mr. Amba Prasad from Tejas Networks, Mr. Anil Kumar from Juniper Networks, Mr. Naveen H N from Open Silicon, Mr. Suresh Kumar from Bharat Electronics Limited, Mr. Balasubramanya Bhat from Cypress Semiconductors, Mr. Ankan Mitra from WEMAG and Mr. Sumanth Subramanyam from GE. The final two rounds were conducted on 27th September 2018 where the contestants were quizzed first, and the best six out of 18 participants topped for the ultimate viva round. The Winner was Mr. Krishnamurthy B S from M/s. Sienna Ecad Technologies. The Runner-up was Ms. Suganthi Veerabadran from M/s. Tessolve Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd. The trophies were distributed by Mr. Amrit Manwani President, ELCINA and Mr. S L N Murthy Principal Consultant at Wuerth Electronik India Pvt. Ltd. respectively.
ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE IPC India conducted a technical workshop on High - Speed PCB Design Analysis and Challenges presented by Mr. S L N Murthy on 27 th September 2018. Mr. S L N Murthy having professional experience of over 42 years in System Design, PCB, SI & PI is currently a Principal Consultant at Wuerth Electronik India Pvt. Ltd., building a team in Engineering, Package Design and System Design. Around 55 participants from various companies like, Bharat Electronics Limited, Multi Tech Systems,U R Rao Satellite Centre (ISRO), Tessolve Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd., Amphenol Interconnect India Pvt. Ltd., Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab, Cyient Limited, Tejas Networks Limited, Caliber Interconnect Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Good Rich Aerospace Corporation, Pramura Software Pvt. Ltd. attended the course.
PRESENTATION BY PROF. VEDU MITTER Professor Vedu Mitter is a graduate in Physics, post-graduate in Electrical Communication engineering and Advanced Electronics, and a diplomate in Business Management. He has about 50 years of work experience in a rich mix of technology and management fields. He has shared his expertise in Strategic Management, Total Quality Management and Six Sigma with Business Management students in the capacity of a professor. He has put in pioneering efforts to bring the PCB industry to India and continues his contribution for its quality improvement. He is associated with many organizations as an expert management consultant in various domains. Prof. Vedu Mitter presented a paper on PCB Sector - Supply Chain Integration With the World at India PCB Tech Conference He was then honoured by the dignitaries, Mr. Amrit Manwani President, ELCINA, Mr. Paresh Vasani Managing Director, PCB Power, Mr. Bhupinder Singh CEO, MMI and Mr. A Vijayendra MD, IPC India.
CONCLUSION NOTE IPC India, a supporting partner at electronica India, productronica India 2018 organized the Hand Soldering Competition, IPC India Technical Workshop and IPC India PCB Design Competition during the show, which was well attended and appreciated by the participants and their sponsoring industries. IPC India takes pride in being associated with this event which was the biggest ever edition of electronica India, productronica India 2018, conducted at BIEC, Bangalore during September 26 to 28, 2018.
