Parental or guardian consent is required by the College for students under the age of 18 to participate in off-campus activities. Working with Children and Criminal Screening for staff is a Departmental requirement This is the assessment of a student s work / skills in class or studio prior to a final submission of an assignment. It allows the lecturer to gauge a student s progress and provide feedback to a student throughout the semester. If you are able to demonstrate that you have already achieved the competencies of this unit or module through prior learning and/or experience, please speak to the lecturer Task skills Undertaking the specific task/s required to complete a work activity to the required standard. This means being able to perform the individual actions as well as the whole task. Dimensions of competency Task management skills Managing a number of different tasks to complete a whole work activity. This means working efficiently to meet deadlines, handle a sequence of interrelated tasks, and progress smoothly between tasks. Contingency management skills Responding to problems and irregularities when undertaking a work activity such as; breakdowns, changes in routine, unexpected or atypical results or outcomes, difficult or dissatisfied clients. Job/role environment skills Dealing with the responsibilities and expectations of the work environment when undertaking a work activity such as; working with others, interacting with clients and suppliers, complying with standard operating procedures or observing enterprise policy procedures. A judgement of competency is based on sufficient evidence that demonstrates that the candidate consistently demonstrates all elements of a unit, has the required knowledge and skills and has met any pre-requisite or co-requisite requirements. To ensure consistency of performance, candidates will need to demonstrate competence a number of times under a variety of conditions. Results & Appeals Results are available, electronically, to students within 10 working days of the final assessment due date, unless otherwise negotiated. Students who are not deemed competent on an assessment may request a remark of the piece of assessment, and a report if required, within four weeks of the date of first publication of the results (e.g. Return of marked assessment, notification by lecturer, Statement of Academic Record). If you are deemed to have met the requirements on a re-mark, the re-marking fee will be refunded. The fee charged for producing a report is non-refundable. Revised: V.Catalano 31/10/2009 Page 5 of 14
