ebooks + eaudiobooks for Kindle Our MyMediaMall service provides e-books and e-audiobooks that are compatible with standard Kindles and Kindle Fires. You will need the following information: Your library card number Your Amazon.com account login and password Please note: Amazon keeps a record of what you download through this service, and may use that information for its purposes. The library is unable to enforce its privacy policy on Amazon s end. 1. On a computer (or smartphone/tablet) go to www.amazon.com and log in using the account information you have registered with your Kindle. Page 1 of 8
2. Once you are logged in to Amazon, visit this website to access our e-books: www.mymediamall.net Hit the Sign in link in the upper right: 3. On the following screen, select Winnetka-Northfield Library District from the dropdown menu, then enter your library card number. Check the Remember My Card box (circled above) so that you don t need to enter your card number each time. Page 2 of 8
4. Once logged in, you are ready to find a book! You can either browse using the Collections link in the upper left, or search by title or author using the search box in the upper right (magnifying glass icon): 5. ebooks are licensed by the copy, like physical books, so popular titles may be checked out and unavailable. On any results page, click the Available Now option to only see books that can be immediately downloaded. Page 3 of 8
6. When looking through results, make sure to note the difference between ebooks (for reading) and eaudiobooks (for listening). The format is listed underneath the title: 7. The bar running across the top of each cover will tell you whether the book is available or checked out: 8. Once you find a book you re interested in tap Borrow (if the book is available) or Place a Hold (if the book is checked out.) Page 4 of 8
If you Place a Hold, you will be asked for your email address, and then emailed when the book is available. If you Borrow the book, it will be sent to your Loans page (see below.) 9. Once you check out a book, head to your Loans page. You can always access your Loans page using the books icon in the upper right: 10. On your Loans page, tap Download and select Kindle Book: Page 5 of 8
11. At this point you will be directed back to Amazon. The Amazon page should show a Get library book button to the right. The dropdown menu underneath lets you choose how you want to transfer it, and to which device. Make sure it is displaying the name of your Kindle. At this point the process can differ: If you are on a wi-fi network, then the book will transfer automatically, and will be usable just like a regular Kindle book. You re finished! If you do not have access to a wireless connection (or have an older Kindle without wi-fi support) then you will need to transfer the book via wired connection. Please see the following pages for instruction on wired transfer. Page 6 of 8
12. To begin wired transfer, hit the yellow Download now button that appears after you click Get library book in step 11 above. 13. You will be prompted to save the file. Do so. It will save to the download location set in your browser. If you do not know where the file is saved, you can search your computer for azw to find any e-book file in the kindle format. Page 7 of 8
14. Attach your Kindle via USB, and open the drive on your computer. 15. Now you just need to transfer the downloaded file to the documents folder of your Kindle, either by cutting and pasting or clicking and dragging.
