Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2014 8:38 AM To: Schulz, Darren J. Cc: Heit, Bonnie J. Subject: KKR plus 1 other Mgr. Meeting in NYC on July 15, 16 or 17 Darren, Let me know if you prefer meeting with KKR in NYC on July 15, 16 or 17. I am presuming we could fly out the afternoon or night before unless we wanted to make it a long day trip (out at 5am and back at 11pm). I need to attend an Affordable Care Act Briefing from 3-4pm on July 15 or 8-9am on July 16. This is the week before our July SIB meeting which will be 50% of Callan College plus a Private Capital Review (we need to discuss over the next few weeks) so I would not want to be out of the office for more than 2 days tops. David Hunter NDRIO Executive Director / Chief Investment Officer North Dakota Retirement & Investment Office PO Box 7100 Bismarck ND 58507-7100 Phone 701-328-9889 www.nd.gov/rio mailto:djhunter@nd.gov Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 2:12 PM David, Regarding the July visit, we have a few suggestions: July 15: 12-3pm EST July 16: 9am - 12EST ; 2-5pm EST July 17: 1:30-4:30pm EST These are all blocks of time when the people we would like you to see are standing by. I have suggested a total of 3 hours, but it may be less and includes time for a break, lunch, etc. Please also keep in mind that, at the moment, I am envisioning two separate topics of discussions -- one connected to private markets and one to credit -- so really we are talking about 1.5 hours for each one. Let us know which of these might be best

Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 11:57 AM Page 2 I am traveling most of next week on business so this Friday after our Board and Audit Committee meetings is best. Please call me on my cell phone at 3:00 pm CT on Friday (May 23). IF I don't pick up, it is because the Audit Committee meeting is still going on. If so, just leave me a message with the best number to contact you and I will try you on May 27 between 1-4 CT when I will likely be driving to a client down in Georgia. Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 9:47 AM, We will be circling back to you shortly on your suggested dates below; we are just confirming that the key people are available. In the meantime (with the intent of refining the NY agenda), could we set up a call to discuss a few ideas in greater detail? If that would be ok, do you happen to have some time on during any of the following windows: May 23: 2-4pm CST May 27: 1-4pm CST May 30: 10am, 12noon, 4pm CST Sent: Thursday, May 15, 2014 9:31 AM Right now, the week of July 14-18 appears to be the best, so please suggest a date or two which might work that week and I will then look to firm up next week. I will be out of the office traveling the last week of May and most of the first week of June so I am attempting to firm things up next week for July.

Sent: Monday, May 05, 2014 12:35 PM Cc: Flanagan, Connie L.; Schulz, Darren J. Page 3 Dear, Thank you for the kind note, and we very much enjoyed getting together with you and Darren for breakfast (and seeing Connie at the National Guard reception with her husband!). We would be delighted to set a time for your visit to New York. The weeks of July 7-11 or July 14-18 both look good on our end. August 4-8 would also work. August 11-15 should probably work as well, but would leave this as the last option since people start to go on vacation this week. Once we fix that date, we can then work backwards to potentially set up ~ 2 calls (if that's ok) over May/June to explore a few scenarios based on what you have shared so far to refine the topics we will cover in New York. We are excited to explore areas of collaboration! All the best, Sent: Sunday, May 04, 2014 1:41 PM Cc: Flanagan, Connie L.; Schulz, Darren J. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know I truly enjoyed our meeting last week and found our conversation with David, Vance, Darren and yourself to be truly compelling. I also enjoyed reading the KKR Global Institute Insights over the past week and share many of the longer term views. As your schedule permits over the next few weeks, let's attempt to set up a meeting in New York during the first two weeks of July or August. I am copying Darren and Connie so I can make sure we have good coverage in the office and I am fairly certain that Connie is taking a well deserved vacation in July, however, I can't recall which two week time frame. I sincerely look forward to speaking with you over the next few months and hope we can build a strategic partnership in the upcoming years. Best regards, Sent: Thursday, April 24, 2014 3:38 PM To: Heit, Bonnie J.; Hunter, David J.; Schulz, Darren J. Thanks! We look forward to seeing you soon.

Darren and I truly look forward to our meeting next week. We intend to arrange a private room for our breakfast on the morning of April 30, at the Ramkota Season's Café and we will confirm these arrangements shortly. I am copying our Administrative Services Supervisor, Bonnie Heit, on this email, who will send a confirming email later today. Subject: Confirmation: Breakfast on April 30th and Darren, Thanks very much for taking the time to speak with me the other day. It was a great help to get an update and to learn more about your current focus areas and priorities. We also look forward to seeing you next Wednesday, April 30, from 7:30-8:45am with Gen Petraeus and Vance Serchuk.

We are planning to finalize the agenda and briefing materials today, so if you could possibly suggest a location to meet, that would be great. Doesn't need to be anything special, just a place convenient for you. My assistant, Corinne, will send you a copy of Patreaus' and Vance's bios.
