This course takes a lifeand-letters approach to the author and his times, with special emphasis on his tales (in English translation) and their relationship to the theory and practice of the genre. A study of the narrative and pictorial tradition of Scandinavian children s literature from the 17 th century to the present. An examination of contemporary crime fiction novels from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland.
