Haand s Mission We want to bring calm and beauty into the lives of our users, if only for a moment, every single time our products are used. We produce simple, durable heirlooms designed to be used every day throughout your home. About Us Haand began in 2012 when childhood friends Chris Pence and Mark Warren decided to start a company together with the goal of designing and producing high quality modern designs using traditional craft methods. Haand s Vision Haand s work is farmhouse futuristic. We strive to create comfortable products for everyday use products that reflect our respect for historic manufacturing processes and craftsmanship as well as our interest in contemporary design and production methods. We started Haand because we believe an object made with care and intention will positively impact your life every time it is touched.

Form and Whiteness When Haand began in 2012, we focused solely on producing beautiful porcelain forms uncomplicated by surface decoration or color. We wanted the forms to quietly speak for themselves, and simultaneously demonstrate the maker s intention and hand. We did not want to hide anything about the process, and by doing so we challenge ourselves to make a perfect product that also spoke of it s material history. Why color? Ceramic color is challenging - it involves a series of complex reactions between oxides and minerals at a very high temperature. To further complicate matters, the difference between a matte, satin, and glossy surface can cause the eye to perceive entirely different colors. Over the past two years, we have gone through a wide variety of colored oxides and glazes, experimenting and refining until we were satisfied with the results. We selected these colors because they make us happy. We chose them because they represent Haand s aesthetic. They hide nothing and tell a story. They are simultaneously joyful and peaceful, never jarring or invasive. Perfect for a quiet meal alone or a round of cocktails by the pool. Our intention and greatest hope is that they will make you happy as well.

Product Care / Our Process Our products are designed to last a lifetime. We fire our porcelain to the same temperatures as industrial porcelain, and follow strict guidelines for selecting colorants and glazes with the intention of creating a safe, ethically sourced product that you, the end user, never have to worry about. Our products are all lead free, food safe and porcelain fired to 2330 F. They are dishwasher and microwave safe. We design and make all our products by hand in our workshop in Eli Whitney, NC and slight variations in color and texture are natural results of this process and should be celebrated as unique indicators of each piece s transition from raw material to final product. Ingredients / Materials We source the majority of our ingredients used in our clay body from the Southeastern United States and use only spring and rainwater in our body and glazes. Our kiln is extremely efficient, and we tailor our process to generate as little waste as possible.
