Differentiation Arrangement Am I a low risk national? Certain nationalities are considered, by the Home Office, to be low risk and eligible for the Home Office Differentiation Arrangement. If you are a low risk national, you should answer Yes to the question below. Low risk nationals are not required to provide evidence of qualifications or financial evidence when applying for a Tier 4 visa. However, the Home Office confirm that they may ask for this evidence. If you are asked to provide this evidence you will have a very short time to provide it. Failure to provide requested evidence will result in a visa refusal. A full list of low-risk nationals can be found at the end of this document. Declaration Please do not proceed any further with your visa application. When you reach this page, click on Return to this application later and save your application. Do not click on I accept the above because you will not be able to return to your application to change or edit your answers. After clicking on Return to this application later if you do not have dependants, please see the next step on Assistance from the International Student Support Team to check your application University of Strathclyde 14 Tier 4 Workbook Tier 4 Online Application February 2019
DO NOT click I accept the above Click Return to this application later My dependants are in the UK, how do I apply for their visa? If you have dependants in the UK (The Home Office consider dependants to be a partner (spouse/civil partner/unmarried partner) or child) you can apply for their visas at the same time you apply for your visa. You simply need to add your dependants to your Tier 4 online application, you do not need to complete a separate form. To add dependants, at any point in your application click on the All applicants link at the top of the page. On the All applicants page go to Additional applicant and select the dependant you want to add, then click Add this applicant. University of Strathclyde 15 Tier 4 Workbook Tier 4 Online Application February 2019
Add all your dependants then click Answer questions about this applicant The application for dependants is shorter and you should be able to answer all these questions without difficulty. Remember to confirm that you want to receive mail at a different address and use the same Advice Centre address that is given above. There is one question which you may find confusing: Does this dependant intend to stay in the UK beyond any period of leave the main applicant is granted This question is asking you if your dependant intends to remain in the UK after your visa expires, and your answer should be no. If you are intending to apply for another visa in the UK (e.g. if you are intending to do further study in the UK) and your dependant will also apply to extend their visa, this is fine, and the answer is still no. If you are still unsure about how to answer this question, please email infoandadvice@strath.ac.uk for advice. Assistance from the International Student Support Team to check your application Once you have answered the questions above check all of your answers to make sure they are correct but DO NOT ANSWER ANY MORE QUESTIONS AND DO NOT CLICK THE GREEN BUTTON I accept the above AT THE DECLARATION PAGE. Click on the downward arrow next to your name at the top right hand corner of the portal and select PRINT/DOWNLOAD PDF. This is the version that we can check all of your answers. You should then give your SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS, VISA EXTENSION DOCUMENT CHECKLIST and a print-out of your PARTIALLY COMPLETED APPLICATION to ISST for checking. University of Strathclyde 16 Tier 4 Workbook Tier 4 Online Application February 2019
Once you have your CAS and you have prepared all your supporting documents, you can submit them to the International Student Support Team (ISST) to be checked. Please print and complete our Visa Extension Document Checklist, which gives more instructions on submitting your documents. You can then hand these into the Advice Centre (Level 1 McCance Building) and we will check them for you. After we have checked your supporting documents and partially completed application, we will provide you with a guide to help you complete and pay for your application. YOU SHOULD NOT PAY FOR YOUR APPLICATION UNTIL WE HAVE CHECKED YOUR DOCUMENTS. When can I travel? Please do not make any travel arrangements/ book flights while you are waiting for your visa. We cannot guarantee that you and your dependants (if you have any) will have your visa in time for you to travel and you could lose the money you have paid for your travel. While you can keep your passport (and any dependants passports) and old BRPs while waiting for your visa application, please note the Home Office has confirmed that if you travel while your application is in progress, your visa application will be cancelled. We strongly advise for you (and dependants) not to travel while your application is in progress. University of Strathclyde 17 Tier 4 Workbook Tier 4 Online Application February 2019
