Banning Chamber of Commerce September 2014 NEWSLETTER Away from it all Close to everything! I would like to thank everyone that participated in the Annual Banning Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner held at Sun Lakes Country Club main ballroom. An excellent job by the Sun Lakes Country Club staff. I will provide a brief summary of this year s chamber award winners. Chamber Partner Award went to Beaumont Chamber of Commerce for their efforts over the last two years to work together with all groups in the San Gorgonio Pass Area and specifically the Banning Chamber. A great team of hard working staff and volunteers at the Beaumont Chamber. New Business of the Year was presented to Brands On Sale who recently filled the entire Deutch Property with merchandise to market and sell online. They have a lot of plans for expansion here in Banning after they relocated here from Redlands. This is a three generation family business. Business of the Year we honored a three generation Family again. Joyce McCrae owned a real estate company in Banning that is now Sun Lakes Realty that is owned and operated by Larry and Cheri McCrae. Larry McCrae also has grown a small business with the assistance of daughter Cortney McCrae into the world famous Poison Spyder Customs. Starting as a hobby this business now employs over 1001 employees and his jeep has recently won the Score 1000 race in Baja.

Non Profits of the Year was received by three different non-profit organizations; Banning Stagecoach Days Committee for their work this year to return Stagecoach Days to the event we all remembered and enjoyed that included a rodeo that utilizes our arena at Dysart Park. San Gorgonio Pass Habitat for Humanity has changed the lives for so many families in Banning by providing them with a home the families can afford and to teach the community the value of sweat equity in changing not only one house, but a whole community. San Gorgonio Pass Boys and Girls Club was recognized for their work with the youth throughout the pass area. Over 700 children receive help and guidance from campuses throughout the region. The centers offer help with homework time, projects, computer classes and time to enjoy games. Community Partner award was received by Aaron s Sales and Leasing for their work in the community to support events and to assist the youth in the area with coloring contests and other promotions that help our residents enjoy their lives in Banning. Chamber President s Award was given to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians for the support they have shown for the chamber, the residents, the non-profits and the businesses of the San Gorgonio Pass. The chamber wanted the Morongo s to know that we appreciate them and enjoy working with them for the good of all people in the pass area. Citizens of the Year we honored Jim and Anne Price residents of Banning for their involvement in starting the Banning Pass Little League and their ongoing support of the league. From a small startup three years ago, this league has had rosters of up to 700 children learning and playing baseball games. The teams have brought 4 pennants to the city and had the Southern California Little League play a play- off series here in Banning. They are also committed to their local neighborhood and Jim serves as a Banning City Planning Commissioner. Regards, Don Robinson Executive Director 2
