Given 2000 people are treated with the drug, what is the probability that it will be effective for a) at least 1400 patients b) less than 1390 patients b) In a certain city, the daily consumption of electric power ( in millions of kilowatt-hours) can be treated as a random variable having Gamma distribution with α=3 and β=2. If the power plant of this city has a daily capacity of 12 million kilowatt-hours, what is the probability that the power supply will be inadequate on any given day? 3. a) Suppose that the service life (in hours) of a semi conductor is a random variable having the Weibull distribution with α=0.025 and β=0.5. What is the probability that such a semiconductor will still be in operating condition after 4000 hours? b) A random sample of size 100 is taken from a population having the mean μ=76 and variance σ 2 =256. What is the probability that sample mean x will be between 75 and 78? What must be the reliability of each component if the overall reliability of the system is given to be 0.96. b) A sample of 300 switches was placed on life test for 3000 on-off cycles and there were no failures, the test was then truncated. Find a 95% confidence limits for the mean life, in number of cycles of the switches.
