PF92 County of York Law Association fonds. -- [1886?]-1920. -- 19 photographs : b&w ; 64 x 54 or smaller, 5 prints : broadsides, b&w ; 71 x 55.5 and smaller Biographical/Sketch/Administrative History The County of York Law Association was established at a meeting held at Osgoode Hall, Toronto, on December 17th, 1885, and was incorporated on December 30th that same year. The purpose of the Association was "the formation and support of a law library for the use of its members to be kept and maintained in the court house in the said City of Toronto and to provide for the general interests of the profession and good feeling and harmony among members". In 1996 the name of the Association was changed to the Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association. The name of the Association changed again in 2004 to the Toronto Lawyers Association. Fonds consists of records created by the County of York Law Association. Included are photographs of past presidents of the Association, four hand-printed membership lists for the years 1887 to 1890, and a broadside listing the Declaration of Incorporation and By-laws of the Association.
