There are important changes regarding who can enter quilts and membership status. Please read this information carefully. Members in good standing may enter up to three (3) quilts to be judged, plus two (2) in Special Exhibits or other nonjudged entries on space available basis. 2 Page 2 2019 COQG Rules for Entry: Must be a Active Member and live in the State of Oklahoma OR You must be a Member in Good Standing for both the 2018-2019 year and the 2019-2020 year. Quilt Entry workshops will be held to help you with the digital requirements at the February and March meetings Member in Good Standing is defined as continuous membership from June 1 st through May 31 st of the next year. AND You must be an active member. An active member is defined as: 1) Attending 4 meetings per year OR 2) Attending 2 workshops per year OR 3) Serving on the Guild s Board OR 4) Serving on the Quilt Show Board OR 5) Participating in Heartwarmers by donating a minimum of 2 crib sized (or larger) finished quilts for our children s charities. OR 6) Volunteering at the most recent Quilt Show for a minimum of 4 hours. * Special consideration by the Current Quilt Show Board will be given to NEW members who have recently moved to the State of Oklahoma and will also be given on an individual basis. This decision of the Quilt Show Committee will be final.

3 1) Number of Entries: Each COQG member may enter up to three (3) items. Special Display entries do not count toward the three item limit. COQG members may sponsor up to two (2) Junior Quilts entries made by quilters, age 16 and under who are not guild members. These entries do not count toward the three item limit. 2) Entry Methods: Print subscription members will receive a paper packet via US mail. E-subscribers will receive a packet via e-mail or may download it from the COQG website. 3) Entry Form (required) Send one (1) form/entry via email to: 2019coqgentries@gmail.com. If you are unable to send it in electronically, please contact Phoebe Roth, Marilyn Karper, or Linda Rinehard 4) Entry Photos (required) A digital photo of each quilt is required for each entry. Only digital photos will be accepted By: April 25, 2019. They must be e-mailed or mailed along with the entry form with quilt name, maker s name and member number to: 5) Quilt Story (required) Only digitally typed versions of your quilt story will be permitted. Your submitted story should be no longer then 150 words. The committee reserves the right to edit as needed for space. 6) Category Placement: Please select the category you feel best fits your entry. The Quilt Show Committee reserves the right to make the final decisions on category placement and where quilts will be hung. 7) Display Only: Entry forms are required for this non-judged categories. Be sure to check the For Display Only box on the entry form. These entries are hung only if space allows. The form is to ensure that the quilt is returned to the correct individual. 8) Entry Agreement: Must be electronically checked or signed no exceptions. 9) Sale Agreement: If you wish to sell your quilt you must indicate as such on the entry form and provide a phone number where a potential purchaser may reach you. The quilt MUST hang until the end of the show at 5 p.m. on July 13, 2019, even if a sales agreement is made prior to the end of the show. No quilts will be allowed to leave the show floor during the show. 10) Quilt Sleeve: All quilts 40 x40 and larger must have a 4 deep finished sleeve. Circumference of the sleeve tube should be 8 and attached to the back of the quilt. The top of the sleeve should be attached no higher than 95 from the bottom of the quilt, to ensure that the quilt will not drag on the floor when hung. This sleeve should be attached to provide plenty of play. If the hanging sleeve is too narrow, it will not slip easily over the cross-bar, in which case the Display Committee reserves the right

4 11) Quilt Label: All quilts must have a fabric identification label sewn to the back of the quilt giving at least the member s name and the name of the quilt. The purpose of this label is to ensure that the quilt is returned to the correct individual. 12) Awards: In each category First, Second and Third place ribbons will be awarded. The First place in each category will be eligible for Best of Show. Invitational and For Display Only quilts are not judged. Winning entries will be award one ribbon and/or prize. 13) Quilt Drop Off: Quilts are to be delivered between July 5-10 to a member of the Receiving Committee. Names and addresses of the receiving committee will be listed in the 2019 May and June newsletters. Each entry must be in its own cloth bag (no plastic) with your name on both sides of the bag in large readable block letters. The cloth bag must be 1½ times larger than your folded quilt for ease of handling. Please do not tie the bag closed. 14) Quilt Pick Up: When you drop off your entry items you will be given a Permission to pick up entry form as a receipt for each item you entered. No entry will be released without this form. Quilts will be available for pick up AFTER 5:30 pm on the last day of the show. 15) Security: After hours security personnel will be on duty. 16) Insurance: Members are responsible for insuring entry items as desired.

5 The entry deadline is Thursday, April 25, 2019, and the quilt top must be completed by this time. We ask that the top be finished, as that increases the likelihood that the entire quilt will be completed in time for the show two months later. Conversely, if you know by June 28 (two weeks) prior to the show that the quilt will T be finished, we ask that you notify the Quilt Show Committee so that the display plans may be adjusted accordingly. The Quilt Show Committee must be notified that the quilt is being withdrawn on or before June 28, 2019, or you may forfeit eligibility to enter the 2021 Celebration of Quilts. The committee will not be upset if you must withdraw, but the Display Chairs need to be able to plan in advance. Thank you for your cooperation. DIVISION: Are you a Master or an Artisan? Please use this information and the flow chart on the following page to determine if your quilts should be placed in the Master or the Artisan division. If you have EVER done anything that the flow chart indicates you are a Master, please consider yourself a Master for Life and take heart in knowing that your mastery and skill has been recognized. Keep in mind that the division definitions apply to the MAKER OF THE TOP not if you are an amateur, but had the quilt professionally quilted. That delineation comes in the category descriptions. JUDGED CATEGORIES within the Artisan and Master Divisions: After using the flow chart to determine which division your quilt(s) belong in, please choose the category below that most accurately describes its category. Please be advised that any category may be further divided by size or other consideration at the discretion of the Quilt Show Display committee. Large Pieced Quilt Machine Quilted: All piecing and quilting done by one person. This category is for any quilt that is larger than 72 on any one side and is primarily pieced. Large Pieced Quilt Hand Quilted: All piecing and quilting done by one person. This category is for any quilt that is larger than 72 on any one side, is primarily pieced, and was hand quilted. Large Applique Quilt Machine Quilted: All piecing and quilting done by one person. This category is for any quilt that is larger than 72 on any one sided and is primarily appliqued. Large Applique Quilt Hand Quilted: All piecing and quilting done by one person. This category is for any quilt that is larger than 72 on any one side, is primarily appliqued, and was hand quilted. Small Quilt - Machine Quilted. All piecing and quilting done by one person. These quilts are suitable for display on a wall, table, or as a throw quilt rather than a bed quilt. No one side may exceed 72, but at least one side is larger than 3. It may be pieced, applique, or a combination. Small Quilt - Hand Quilted All piecing and quilting done by one person. 6 Large Pieced Quilt (Professionally Quilted): This category is for quilts larger than 72 on any one side that is primarily pieced and was professionally quilted. Large Applique Quilt (Professionally Quilted): This category is for quilts larger than 72 on any one side and is primarily appliqued and was professionally quilted. Small Quilt (Professionally Quilted): These quilts are suitable for display on a wall, table, or as a throw quilt rather than a bed quilt. No one side may exceed 72, but at least one side is larger than 3. It may be pieced, applique, or a combination. First Time Entry (Artisan Division only): Must be the first quilted project entered into ANY judged quilt show. Construction of the quilt top must be done entirely by the entrant, but it may be professionally quilted. There are no size restrictions. JUDGED CATEGORIES with Artisans and Masters Included: Art Quilts: All piecing, quilting, and any embellishments are done by the maker, and it is an original design. Any technique, materials, or combination may be used in a nontraditional way. At least one side is larger than 30. Pictorial Quilts: The quilt illustrates a recognizable image, such as a portrait, landscape, wildlife, etc. All work may be done by one person, or it may be professionally quilted. At least one side is larger than 30. Digitally Produced Quilts: The quilt is made with embroidered or appliqued blocks produced from a pre-programmed digitized design on an embroidery machine. It may be professionally quilted. At least one side is larger than 30. Miniature Quilts: The quilt reflects a traditional pieced or applique pattern on a reduced scale. Other Techniques: The quilt is made with primarily trapunto, white work, hand embroidery, cathedral windows, yo-yo, crazy quilts, or any other technique that doesn t otherwise fit into the pieced, applique, digitized or art quilt categories. May be hand quilted, machine quilted, or tied. At least one side is larger than 30. Group or Friendship Quilts: The quilt top was made by two or more persons, and it may be professionally quilted. At least one side is larger than 30. Show Theme: The quilt is made to embody the theme Looking to the Future: Seeing 20/20. It may use any technique or materials to interpret the theme, and it may be professionally quilted. At least one side is larger than 30. Examples are eyes, glasses, horizons, etc. N-JUDGED: President s Challenge from 2017-2018 (Home Sweet Home) or 2018-2019 (Friendship Garden): If you wish to enter your President s Challenge quilt to be displayed but not in a judged category please enter this category so we can all enjoy it. Quilts made by Juniors: These quilts are made by a quilter younger than 17 and may use piecing, applique, or another quilting technique.

7 Are you a Master or an Artisan? This flow chart is intended to help determine the appropriate division for your entries. Open and Non-Judged divisions are open to all. You are a quilter (long-arm or otherwise) and you sell/accept payment for your work or have done so in the past. Possibly an Artisan Have you ever had a quilt compete in the Master Division of the COQG Quilt Show or have been classified as a Master or Professional at a different show in the past? Possibly an Artisan Have you ever published a quilt book or pattern? Possibly an Artisan Have you ever won Best of Show in a local guild, county, state or national competition? Since becoming a quiltmaker you have won a total of three (3) or more first place ribbons in any combination of the following: local, county, state, national or international professionally judged quilting competitions? You have a quilt juried into a highly prestigious exhibit, such as Quilt National, etc. You are an ARTISAN
