1 General This Release Notice is a summary of the major extensions, dependencies and operating information to the SKP software SV2.0A. The release level is that of June 2011 This Release Notice is delivered on the docmentation CD. This and other current release notices are available on the SoftBooks DVD and online under http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/. 1.1 Ordering The software is delivered with a Field Change Order for the SKP 3970-40. The FCO is ordered by Service and installed in the SKP 3970-40 at the customer s. The software does not have to be ordered separately. With SKP 3970-50 you get this software. The software is delivered preinstalled with SKP 3970-50 hardware and does not have to be ordered separately. The software of SKP 3970-40 and SKP 3970-50 is subject to the general terms and conditions of the software product use and service agreement. 1.2 Delivery The SKP software SV2.0A0203 for SKP 3970-40 and 3970-50 is delivered on CD- ROM/DVD data media. 2 Software extensions The 3970 (SKP) service/console processor is a system for the operation, monitoring, diagnosis and maintenance of all BS2000 servers in the S series. The SKP is based on PRIMERGY TX300-S3 (SKP 3970-40) or TX300-S6 (SKP 3970-50) server technology and the Linux operating system. Access to the system takes place uniformly, i.e. locally at the console as well as remotely via LAN, by means of the web interface. The extensions and enhancements compared to the previous SKP software version SV1.1A0004 are described below. 2.1 Graphical user interface The web interface has been adapted to suit that of the SQ servers. The role concept has in comparison with the software SV1.0A and SV1.1A been extended. Role-specific user profiles can be configured. 2.2 Teleservice In addition to the Modem-Teleservice via analog or ISDN modem, Internet- Teleservice via AIS-Connect is now also possible with the SV2.0A software. 2.3 Copying BS2000 CDs and DVDs The SKP Software SV2.0A can now also be used to copy BS2000 CDs. The copying of BS2000 CDs in the SKP drive is possible with SKP 3970-40. In addition to copying BS2000 CDs, it is also possible to copy BS2000 DVDs in the SKP drive with SKP 3970-50. 2.4 Channel connection of the SKP 3970-50 The SKP 3970-50 is connected to the S server via an SKP host connector. The SKP host connector is a part of the SKP hardware 3970-50 and must be installed in the S server. 2.5 Password backup The passwords of the user profiles are automatically backed up and the backup can be used by Service for recovery. 2.6 Service access to HNC The SVP LAN of the SKP is now also used as the service LAN for access to the HNC, via which the connection to Teleservice is implemented; the HNC can be diagnosed, reset and switched on or off. Thus, the outdated V24 connection is no longer required. Page 3
3 Technical information 3.1 Resource requirements The SKP 3970-50 can be used on the current servers of the S series. A free slot must be available for the installation of the SKP host connector. 3.2 Software configuration The SV2.0A software of the SKP 3970-40 and 3970-50 consists of the basic system SLES 10 SP3 with security components and additional packages. BS2000/OSD version 5.0C is presumed if SKP 3970-40 is used. If the SKP 3970-50 is used, the optional REP A0585998 is required for IPL V16.0B and V17.0A. Therefore, SKP 3970-50 can only be used as of BS2000/OSD version 7.0B. A special release is required for OSD versions V5.0C and V6. 3.3 Product installation The software is supplied as a Field Change Order for the SKP 3970-40 and is installed by the service engineer responsible for you. The software is delivered preinstalled with the SKP 3970-50. Any necessary new correction versions are supplied via SOLIS. The installation of these correction versions is performed by the service engineer responsible for you. 3.4 Product use 3.4.1 BS2000 generation An SKP host connector, which has to be generated in the BS2000, is required in the S server in order to connect the SKP 3970-50. The channel statement for the IORSF generation is: CHN xx,ibf,a,mode=cnc 3.4.2 Remote access For remote access to SKP 3970-40 and 3970-50 you need an Internet browser and a Java runtime environment on the PC in use. A window manager (e.g. Exceed) is no longer necessary for remote operation. The following prerequisites exist for the PCs to be used for remote operation: Supported browsers: Internet Explorer as of V7.0 Firefox as of V3.0 The browser must be configured as follows: Enable JavaScript Enable scripting of Java Applets Enable Cookies Page 4
JRE 6.0 is a prerequisite for the Java runtime environment. It is recommended that the latest version 6 is used. This is currently Update 25. If required, it can be downloaded under http://www.java.com/de/download/manual.jsp. The following product version of the Java runtime system has been successfully tested for remote access: JRE V6 Update 22 and JRE V6 Update 25 Restrictions concerning the operability of the SKP cannot be ruled out in JRE versions that are not stated here. 3.5 Obsolete functions Compared to SKP 3970-20 and 3970-30 support is no longer provided for the following functions: The connection of alpha terminals (e.g. TC20) to the serial interface is no longer supported. It is thus no longer possible to connect an ATOP 3925 for system operation and monitoring. The connection of a radio clock or GTS 3925 (Global Time Server) to a serial interface is no longer supported. The NTP protocol version 1 of the GTS 3925 is not accepted by the SKP 3970-40 and 3970-50 (the NTP time packages sent by the global time server do not pass the authentication test of the current NTP version). Alternatively, a more modern NTP time server can be used. The direct connection of a printer (e.g. for printing KVP logging) is no longer supported. 3.6 Incompatibilities Compared to the old SKP 3970-20 and 3970-30 different IP addresses are used for the LOCLAN and we recommend that another name be used for the BCAM configuration (see example). This is now no longer valid. Page 5
3.7 Restrictions 3.7.1 BS2000-IPL from CD After an IPL has been performed from a BS2000 Firststart CD/DVD, the CD/DVD cannot be removed from the drive of the SKP 3970-40, because the eject function is inactive at this point in time. On the web interface it is necessary to press the button Restart in the menu BS2000 Devices Tape Drives for the CD-ROM device. The CD/DVD can then be removed after the Reject button on the DVD drive has been pressed. An IPL from a BS2000 Firststart CD/DVD is currently not possible on the SKP 3970-50 with SV2.0A0203 software. 3.7.2 FST operation On the local console of the SKP, the GNOME terminal is not suitable for the FST maintenance tool (SVP-Frame display program for the maintenance engineer), because junk characters are output. An additional Xterm window must be opened with the command xterm & as a bypass or the WEB interface terminal window must be used under SKP Management Administration - CLI. 4 Hardware requirements The SV2.0A0203 software will only run on the supplied SKP hardware. 4.1 SKP hardware SKP 3970-40 SKP 3970-50 Primergy TX300-S3 Primergy TX300-S6 4.2 Channel hardware for S servers An SKP host connector (3970-HC) is required to connect an SKP 3970-50 to an S server (S145 to S210). This is an integral part of the hardware of the SKP 3970-50. A free slot must be available in the S server for the installation of the host connector. Page 6
