Tac2i s Quick Start Guide for New Players This isn t a tutorial on how to play the units provided by the game but just a short overview for new players to WWII Online. First, while this is a First Person Shooter type game, it is much more than that. The playing area is huge though you will be channeled into places where there is potential for action. The overarching objective is the conquer towns and cities thereby eventually winning the map. Your duty to your side is to assist in that effort while developing your persona (Army, Navy and Air Force). Each persona ranks up independently of the others. You can play lone wolf style but things go better if you work together in teams. There are many player squads that a player can join and that is highly recommended. Communication is very important. There is text chat in game but that can be hazardous to your health in an active combat environment. It is highly recommended that you get the free TeamSpeak program. Note: You die a lot, especially as infantry. Don t worry about that. It does not count against you or the promotion points that you accumulate. That said no one likes to get killed a lot so as any soldier would do, play smart and play cooperatively. Many times you will die and not even see the enemy that got you. Again, don t worry about it. Everyone on both sides has that happen to them. You ll do it to the enemy as much as them to you. Also note there is no friendly fire. You cannot wound or kill your fellow countrymen. You can kill yourself however so be careful with grenades and satchel charges. You can also die by jumping off moving vehicles and high buildings. How to Get onto the Battlefield There are four spawn location types for infantry: Barracks, Infantry Bunker, Mobile Spawn (called a fru by players) and Forward Bases. Aircraft spawn in at airfields and navy ships/boats spawn in at docks. Armored vehicles can spawn in at the Vehicle Spawn in Army bases and at Forward Bases. Trucks spawn in at the same locations as armored vehicles plus they can spawn in at Infantry Bunkers. Anti-Tank guns and Anti-Aircraft guns also spawn in at vehicle and infantry bunker spawns. Only infantry can spawn in at mobile spawns. Note that towns with docks can also spawn naval infantry (must play a Navy persona) and airfields can spawn paratroopers. See Spawn section for graphics of the spawn types. To actually spawn in you locate a mission on the Active Battles Tab and select it. Then choose your weapon/vehicle/aircraft type. Note that some of these things are rank restricted. A quick way to rank up is to capture and/or guard a CP (see below for description). Guarding a captureable CP or AB gains you approximately 1 promotion point very minute or two of guarding. A CP cap is worth 20 points. If you see a CP/AB being capped, run inside and get the points. How Towns/Cities are Conquered Every town has multiple Capture Points (CPs) and one or more Army bases (ABs). Some also have an airfield and some have one or two naval docks. All these things must be individually capped to conquer a town. Before an AB can be captured a CP must be taken and held for 10 minutes. When that happens an 8 minute timer kicks off for the AB after which it becomes captureable. Same holds true for airfields and naval docks. To attack a city and capture it the High Command (HC) staff must have placed an Attack Objective on it. Cities with an AO on it automatically gets a Defense Objective which allows defenders to spawn in and fight the attackers. Every city has an Early Warning System (think of it as civilians or patrols sighting approaching enemy combatants). EWS can be light or heavy. Light EWS would represent less than 5 infantrymen and heavy 5 or more. EWS can be infantry and/or armor.
Capture Point Building This is what an undamaged CP looks like. There are two entrances: one in the front with a flag and one in the rear. Lots of fighting can take place at these locations as one side attempts to conquer a town. When you enter an enemy CP a countdown timer kicks off toward capturing it. If an ei (enemy infantry) enters he will begin to recap it. If that ei is killed, you begin to capture it again. Rear side of a CP
Army Base Bunker This is what an army base bunker looks like. It has only one entrance. Many times they are found inside a walled compound along with a vehicle spawn and infantry barracks which can make them tough to take down. Usually the AB is last to fall but not always. Spawns Barracks Spawn: usually found at an army base.
Infantry Bunker (note the large opening for trucks, AA and ATG guns). If it is spawnable, its nearby CP must be guarded. Lose the CP and you lose your ability to spawn at that bunker. Mobile Spawn (fru): placed by trucks and are usually placed in bushes to hide them as best as possible. These are easy to place and also rather easy to destroy.
Forward Base: located between towns if you destroy the enemy s FB your FB comes online. Engineers are usually used to blow them up. Sometimes epic battles take place around these. Naval Dock (use you Navy persona to spawn boats and ships) Airfield not shown: obviously this where you spawn in aircraft and also paratroopers going on a para drop. Tac2i s Version 1.0
