TEJ3E Computer Technology, Grade 11, Workplace Preparation Name: This job may allow employees to develop the knowledge and skills related to computer hardware, networks, operating systems, and other software. Employees will have used utility and application software, and learned proper procedures for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer systems and networks. They will have also developed an awareness of environmental and societal issues related to the use of computers, and may have learned about apprenticeships and other employment opportunities in the field of computer technology. Draw a plan for a home or small office network of at least four computers. Include the placement of computers, peripherals, furniture and lighting. Describe three things to keep in mind when providing an ergonomic work space for the workplace. Describe your role in installing, updating, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware in your workplace. Describe the procedures used in your workplace to prevent damage to computer components. Identify and describe the computer file backup systems used in your workplace.

Describe one hardware solution that you suggested to solve a problem encountered in your workplace. Describe the network utilities you have used to diagnose and correct problems such as incorrect IP configuration or slow connections. List the computer operating systems and application systems you are familiar with. Describe the effects of computer technology on the environment.

TEC3E/TEC4E Computer Engineering Technology: Computer Repair, Grade 11 and 12, Workplace Preparation Name: This job focuses on the electronic maintenance and repair of computers and their peripherals.
