Business Meeting March 14, 2019 Called to Order at 10:00 am by Kathy Farrar, President. Discussion regarding Door Monitor sign- up sheet and importance of everyone assisting with and scheduling a time to sign-up. Sign-up sheet circulated through room during Business Meeting, result, all spots were filled. Reminder email will be sent before scheduled to monitor door also fob will be available. Day of Sharing, Jacksonville, there is a sign-up sheet on back table for anyone wishing to go. Today is the last day to sign-up money should be placed in the envelope today. If anyone has room for another guild member to travel to the Day of Sharing on May 4, please contact Pat Ruff. Duffy Center, no calendar is set as of now, they will contact us with future information. Banner Program, Guild submitted a check, anyone wishing, can submit a Banner through the Guild. Spring Retreat went well, everyone enjoyed themselves, catered food went well. Raffle Quilt Ticket Sales, looking for Volunteer to be Committee Chairperson, responsible for Coordination and Outreach. You can find a buddy to help with the ticket sales and recruit volunteers to show the Raffle Quilt at the Farmers Market to sell tickets. Geri Reid will be stepping down from Maintaining and set- up of the Website. Thank You for a job well done. We will need a Volunteer to fill this position, training is available. Page 1 of 6

Officers Reports: Vice President: Sandy Drechsler: Reminder all Demonstrations are at Tabernacle Baptist Church. There has been good participation, with the demonstrations. Time is 9:30-10:30, on April 4th will have Binding, Bias & Straight, by Laura Miller. Binding - Piping/ Flange, by Lynn Peck- Collins, Workshops ( All at SOTR) March 28th- Hand Applique, by Sue Marra Sign-up sheet on back tables. Supply list is on Website Remember Website and Newsletter are your resources for all thing happening. Teachers- Sally Manke- April 11 & 12, still spots available in both classes, sign-up and samples in back. There is an additional $3.00 for the all day class, Looking-Up to be paid to the Instructor, Sally Manke the day of the class. Gylene Fitzgerald- September 12 & 13 will be teaching a class. Challenges, there is a sign-up sheet for three Challenges, Color Change; 1/2 square triangles; and Foundation Piecing. Secretary Report: Carolyn Hansen: Read three thank You card to Guild Members, informed membership that all correspondence is in a notebook and available to look at before or after any Board or Business meeting. Treasurer Report: Dee Tendell: Total of all Accounts currently $ 43, 360.58. Committee Reports: Membership: Diana Rezab: new member Holly P, from Taberna welcomed. Page 2 of 6

New Member Mentoring: Cathy Cox/ Betty Williams : there will be a meeting after this meeting with new members and mentors. At next months Business Meeting will discuss New Member Tea which will be held May 30th. We will be needing Volunteers to donate food for the Tea, there will be more information to follow. Newsletter: Sandy Smith: Please email any information for the newsletter by Midnight tonight. Fall Retreat: Sandy Smith/Jeanne Batten ( 11/3-11/8/2019) will be held at The Islander Hotel on Emerald Isle. Sign- up sheets are in back of room, a $20.00 non refundable cash deposit required upon sign- up. Holiday Retreat: Will be in December, at the Trinity Center, more information to follow. Day of Sharing: Sandy Smith: Date will be 2020, Halloween last Saturday of the month. Will need volunteers to take a table and decorate it using a holiday theme. There may be a Judging for best table decorated. There is a budget set aside for the Day of Sharing expenses. Community Services: Alvina Diello/ Pat Phillips: The third Thursday we will put kits together, bring rotary cutter, cutting boards ruler, or sewing machine if desired. In April we will be demonstrating Fidget Quilts. Please do not throw items in the closet without letting Pat& Alvina know. CWS: Nancy Hausman: Next month will be needing First Aide items to be donated to the Women's Center, please bring donated items to Business Meeting. Children's Quilts: Lorraine Wocel: (5) quilts donated to Hope Family Services. Military Quilts: Mary Daugherty: Laura filling in for Mary while she is out of town, received (8) quilts for Veterans Home. The VA takes Bibs, Fidget Quilts, Pillow Cases, and quilts of any size. Rolane Swenedy- discussed Quilt display put on at the Assisted Living Facility, Gardens of Pamlico, this was well received 14 patients came and enjoyed the display. In need of more quilts for future display. Nursing Home Quilts: Jan Penner: taking all donations Lap Quilts, Adult aprons, has 13 Nursing Home on the list, also Hospice and the Health Department. Jan appreciates all donated quilts. Last month 9 quilts were given to Bay View Nursing Facility and 10 Quilts to Pruitt Health Care Facility. Library: Chris Babich/ Cathy Cox: Library is now open. She received a lot of book donations, will keep books less than 25 years old, due to space. Books older can be brought to Quilt Show to sell in Twice Around Treasures. Chris demonstrated the procedure for borrowing books and DVD's. Sunshine: Kay Amend: No cards sent this month. Please let her know if anyone is in need of a card. Historian: Pat Boni: Requesting photos from the retreats. Website: Geri Reid: To be stepping down from maintaining site Thank You for a great job! Suzi Hardy has expressed an interest in taking over. Block of Month: Ed Dzobia: Not present, will have block raffle next month. New Quilters Class: Sandra Egolf/ Cathy Cox: Class will be held in June & July, on Sewing on the River, more information to follow. Quilts will be done in time to display at Quilt Show. 2020 Raffle Quilt: Evelyn Bernhardt: Hope to be ready for April to be Quilted by Margaret Reswig, Three Bears Quilting. 2019 Quilt Show: Chris Gillespie; Linda Bory; Phyllis Prideaux: 225 days untill show! Finish your quilts. Convention Center is happening. Page 4 of 6

In close contact with Mary McGee, all contracts are awarded, in April will begin concrete repairs. Expected to be complete by October 1st. Spread Positive News! We will be needing Volunteers to make this a success. Laura Miller Ultimate Raffle will be needing items for baskets Work on quilts and enter in show. If your quilt is already registered, no need to reregister. Boutique need members to make stuff to sell. Volunteering, there will be 250 jobs. We will be talking more about this next month. Discussed Judging by Lynn Peck Collins, suggestions will be in the newsletter. Categories for Judging are on the website. Suggestions for Twice Around Treasures, no polyester fabric, bring books the day before the Quilt Show. Need plastic Jars, thread, yarn, plastic zipper bags, notions, rulers, cutting boards, cutters. Leave donations in your car. After the business meeting will transfer. Will have special discussion at every meeting regarding the Quilt Show.
