Operational Issues: 4.1 All coastal states within NAVAREA I release their own coastal warnings on NAVTEX and local warnings on VHF, with the exception of Demark who pass coastal warnings to appropriate coastal state for transmission on NAVTEX. NAVAREA I has a good exchange of information with NAVAREA II, IV and XIX concerning cross-boundary movement of vessels requiring a navigational warning, notably tows and survey operations. Details of MSI information received from coastal states within NAVAREA I can be found at ANNEX B. 4.2 No new infrastructure has been added to NAVAREA I. However, on 1 July 2018 Estonia changed their NAVTEX B1 Character from Uniform to Foxtrot, with the approval of IMO NAVTEX Coordinating Panel, to avoid interference problems encountered previously. 4.3 The complete text of all in-force NAVAREA I warnings, including those which are no longer being broadcast, are available from the UKHO website at: http://www.admiralty.co.uk/maritime-safety-information/radio-navigational-warnings. Alternatively, these may be requested by e-mail from NAVAREA I Coordinator at: navwarnings@btconnect.com. 5. They are fully practiced in broadcasting MSI as local Page 4 of 7

and coastal warnings; Denmark does not transmit coastal warnings see paragraph 4.1 above. Monitoring of MSI broadcasts are conducted on an ad hoc basis by NAVAREA I Coordinator through various sources. It is the opinion of NAVAREA I Coordinator that no additional training in the provision of broadcasting MSI within NAVAREA I is required. 7.2 Since WWNWS9, NAVAREA I has contributed one instructor to the IHO Capacity Building Programme MSI training course for the benefit of countries within Eastern Atlantic Hydrographic Commission (EAtHC), Southern Africa & Islands Hydrographic Commission (SAIHC), ROPME Sea Area Hydrographic Commission (RSAHC) and North Indian Ocean Hydrographic Commission (NIOHC). A further course is due to take place after WWNWS 10 for Mediterranean and Black Sea Hydrographic Commission (MBSHC) in Istanbul, Turkey. 8. Other Activities: 8.1 NAVAREA I has continued to provide the Chairman and Secretary for the IMO NAVTEX Coordinating Panel. 9. NAVAREA Website: http://www.admiralty.co.uk/maritime-safety-information/radio-navigational- Address: warnings All NAVAREA and Coastal warnings are uploaded as soon as possible following the dissemination via established GMDSS methods. The Website refreshes immediately new information is posted. The DTG of every amendment to the Website (including deletions) is displayed on the page. During 2017 there were 46,506 visits to NAVAREA I website for MSI related information with an average time of 2.51 minutes spent during the visit. 10.
