The Christmas Party committee did a great job entertaining the crowd with a skit and games. Pictures were taken in front of the tree by Rachel and Charlie. And Atlanta s Finest never disappoints with delicious food and a beautiful tree. Now we can move into the new year and sew, sew, sew. I was reviewing this year s program schedule and it will be a great year. Many different classes and chances to participate a little or a lot. The Program Committee does a great job trying to change things every year. I hope more members will choose to join the day meetings that include sewing classes. It s a lot of fun even if it s work to gather all your stuff and take it to the meeting. I plan to see you at some day meetings too. Let's start with the Debbie Maddy trunk show at the January 14th day meeting and then the follow up workshop on the 16th. I'll be there, yee ha! And at the night meeting looks like we start the Buck Eye Block Swap. Boy that is a mouth full. LOL. Be sure and join us! One more thing. We need a Ways and Means person to work with Patti Howell. She can handle the day meeting but needs a person to take care of things at the night meetings. Let me or Patti know soon if you can help. Thank You, Tina Corbitt Have a Happy New Year! Program News Heads UP!!! In 2016, we have planned a quilting project which will use Christmas fabric. Please save your scraps from your Christmas sewing. If you happen to find a great sale on Christmas fabric, you might want to pick up a few of yards of fabric. The project will be scrappy, so it does not matter if all of your fabric doesn t coordinate. A special thank you goes out to Paula Miller. She volunteered to host our special guest, Debbie Maddy. We appreciate her support of our guild! The January 14 th day program is a trunk show given by Debbie Maddy from Calico Carriage Quilt Designs. We have heard that she brings a large number of quilts for her shows. If you decide to bring guests to the meeting, it is fine, however, you should send Linda Jones an email on how many extra people you plan to bring. We want to have plenty of seating for our guests. The January 16 th, Labyrinth Quilt workshop taught by Debbie Maddy has 26 members enrolled. This means that everyone who is participating in the workshop will have their pattern included in the $30 charge. If you would like to be added to a waiting list for the class, in case someone cancels at the last minute, please email Linda Jones today. ljones700@hotmail.com Three quick reminders regarding the workshop: When you registered, you received a handout with the pre-cutting directions for the quilt. You will get the pattern the day of the workshop. The workshop will be held at Heritage Baptist Church which is on the corner of Rose Avenue and Selman Drive. Saturday, January 16 th, 10AM-4PM Community Service In 2016, we will again provide baby quilts for the Birthing Center of Wellstar Douglas County Hospital. The quilts should be a minimum 36" by 42". Each quilt needs to be washed when completed so the babies will not be exposed to chemicals from new fabrics. If you are not able to wash your contribution, please let us know. Happy quilting and thank you, Cherokee Rose Quilt Guild January 2016 Page 3
