PASADENA COIN CLUB Established 1961 Pasadena Coin Club Newsletter ANA Member C42241, TNA Member C-0036 April 2008 Edition Circulation 104 Published by: Joanne Carter, Secretary/Newsletter 281-469-0114 The Pasadena Coin Club meets every Second and Fourth Monday of the month at Golden Corral Restaurant. The address is 4021 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas. Members start arriving at 6:00 p.m. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. The Auction begins at the conclusion of the meeting. Viewing of Auction Lots is before the club meeting and at the ten-minute intermission. Members and Guest are encouraged: but not required to purchase meals at Golden Corral. The management allows the Pasadena Coin Club to meet in their meeting room for a very nominal fee. So whenever possible please take the time to dine at Golden Corral. Annual Dues: Junior Members..$6.00 Couples..$15.00 Regular Membership $10.00 Family Membership..$20.00

MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE DUE ON OR BEFORE THE SECOND MEETING IN JANUARY According to the Pasadena Coin Club Constitution and Bylaws Dues shall be payable at or before the second meeting each January, after which time dues become delinquent. No member shall be allowed to vote on any issue after the regular January meeting if dues for the current year have not been paid. Any regular or junior member in arrears more than three months shall be automatically dropped from the roster and the mailing list. You may pay your dues by mail. The correct mailing address to send your dues is: PASADENA COIN CLUB P. O. BOX 58155 HOUSTON, TX 77258 NEWSLETTER You can find the newsletter on line at www.pasadenacoinclub.org. The newsletter will only be mailed to you for the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS The Pasadena Coin Club encourages members and guest to give numismatic, educational presentations. If you would like to give a presentation or know someone who might like to give a presentation please contact one of the coin club officers. Notice we still have plenty of empty slots. MEETING SCHEDULE 2008 04/14/08 Officer Installation Banquet & Bingo 04/28/08 05/12/08 05/26/08 AUCTIONS After each meeting, club members place coins up for auction. We encourage our guest to stay for the auction. You do not need to be a member to bid on auction lots. Rules: There is a 10-lot maximum (per member). You must be a member of the Pasadena coin club in order to put lots up for sale. There is no charge to members for entering lots. A $1.00 minimum bid shall prevail. Lots shall be affixed to a 3 X5 card with the following information: Description and grade of the lot: Lot number; Minimum bid & Owners Name. Lots shall be listed on the proper form for such listing. (The treasurer or secretary will provide a copy for you.)

HAS YOUR ADDRESS CHANGED? Please make sure that if your mailing address has changed to please give us your correct address in writing. We want to make sure you get your newsletter in the mail. PASADENA COIN CLUB COINS FOR A S PROGRAM The club sponsors a program called Pasadena Coin Club for A s program. The intent is to reward the junior members with coins for each A they get on their report cards. This encourages and fosters further numismatic interest amongst the junior member. Donations to this program are always appreciated. RAFFLE TICKETS Just a friendly reminder that when you sign in at meeting time, you can purchase raffle tickets for door prizes. The tickets are really inexpensive and there are some really good items to choose from. Red tickets are 2 for $1 and Yellow tickets are 3 for $1. Remember the proceeds from the ticket sales go toward buying more door prizes. We need more ticket sales to insure that this part of the program does not disappear LETTERS TO THE EDITOR To all members of the Pasadena Coin Club. If you would like to voice an editorial opinion about coin collecting; please submit your written text to: Joanne Carter, P O Box 41898, Houston TX 77040. Your letter must be dated and signed and of course it must be in good taste. Any letters received that are not signed and that do not have a return address will be discarded. The letter will be put into the next newsletter following receipt of your submission. WISH LIST Is there an item you would like to find for your collection but have not found it yet or seen it in a club auction? Here is your chance to find out if another club member could help. The club is starting a wish list. This list will be published in the club newsletter and will be on line for everyone to check out. We hope this list will help make our auctions better. If you have needs for the wish list contact Joanne Carter/ March 10, 2008 MEETING MINUTES Billy H. called the meeting to order at 7p.m. There were 41 members and 3 junior members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read. A motion was made to accept minutes, 2 nd and approved. The treasures report was read. A motion was made to accept the treasurer s report, 2 nd and approved. Old business: Joanne C. gave an update from the nominating committee. Jay Hill declined the position of Vice-president due to health issues. Mary Herrera was asked to be vice-president. New business: A motion was made to close all nominations for officers and that the nominees be voted in by acclamation. The motion was made 2 nd and approved. A motion was made that the club not pay for the meals this time. It was 2 nd and approved A motion was made that the club spend $350.00 for bingo prizes. It was 2 nd and approved. The minutes of the last meeting were read, 2 nd and approved. The treasures report was given and was second and approved There was no old business: New Business: On May 10 th the Bellaire Coin Club will be going to the Museum of Fine Arts to see the exhibit on Pompeii.
