microos Occupant Occupant Sensor microos-1 12.9.03 Lutron s One Way and Two Way microos Occupant enable Lutron systems to change light levels when a space is occupied and/or unoccupied. Occupant sensors detect motion ultrasonically, without the coverage gaps associated with infrared sensors, and turns lights on or brightens them from the unoccupied light level. The occupant sensors are also compatible with Lutron s Power Pack for individual use with a line voltage power supply. Sensitivity and time delay are user adjustable. microos Occupant Sensor One Way microostm Occupant Sensor Maximum coverage area 900 sq. ft. (see included diagrams for coverage details) Key Design Features Automatically turns off lights when space is unoccupied. Detects motion ultrasonically in one direction. Sensitivity and time delay are user adjustable. Mounting Location Ceiling (Near Wall) Wire pigtails are Teflon-insulated. Model Number MOS-CM-15-WH Two Way microostm Occupant Sensor Maximum coverage area 2160 sq. ft. (see included diagrams for coverage details) Key Design Features Automatically turns off lights when space is unoccupied. Detects motion ultrasonically in one direction. Sensitivity and time delay are user adjustable. Mounting Location Ceiling (Center of space) Wire pigtails are Teflon-insulated. Model Number MOS-CM2W-15-WH

Mounting Occupant microos-3 12.9.03 The occupant sensor must have an unobstructed view of the room. Do not mount behind or near tall cabinets, shelves, indirect hanging light fixtures. etc. Keep the occupant sensor away from air flow from ventilation outlets, windows, fans, etc. If installing a one-way occupant sensor, place the sensor on the same wall as the doorway so that traffic in a hallway will not affect the sensor. Closely follow the diagrams below concerning partition height, if applicable. Partitions higher than 48 inches reduce the coverage area of the sensor. Partitionable spaces with partitions higher than 71 inches should be treated as individual rooms. Closely follow the diagrams below concerning minor and major motion coverage. The sensor can detect major motion (such as a person taking a half step) at a greater distance that it can detect minor motion (such as writing or typing at a desk). Decrease total coverage area by 15% for soft rooms (examples, heavy draperies or heavy carpeting) Doorway microos Occupant Sensor Mounting Location for One-Way Mounting Location for Two-Way NON-PATITIONED AEAS No partitions or partitions not to exceed 48" in height SENSO NON-PATITIONED AEAS No partitions or partitions not to exceed 48" in heights 28' 30' 24' 36' 24' 30' Minor Motion Coverage Area Major Motion Coverage Area 56' 60' PATITIONED AEAS Partition heights of 49" to 71" SENSO PATITIONED AEAS Partition heights of 49" to 71" 19' 20' 17' 25' 17' 38' 41' 20'
Installation microos-4 12.9.03 Install the Mounting Post Insert the microos Occupant Sensor wires through the threaded mounting post provided. Slide the post down the wires and into the housing. Turn the post 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it into place. Install to the Ceiling Tile Drill a 3/4 inch hole into the ceiling tile where the Occupant Sensor is to be mounted (refer to the previous page for location concerns). Insert the wires and the mounting post through the hole in the ceiling tile. Slide the wires through the washer and nut provided. Slide the washer and nut down the wires toward the microos Occupant Sensor. otate Toward the Occupants Turn the microos Occupant Sensor so that the side slots are facing the occupied area in the room. Tighten the nut to secure the microos Occupant Sensor into place. Note: Finger tighten only to avoid stripping the mounting post. Be certain that the slots face the occupied area..
Sensor Adjustments microos-5 12.9.03 Locating the Occupant Sensor Adjustments The time delay and range/sensitivity adjustments are located on the end of the microos Ceiling Mount occupant sensor. Setting the ange/sensitivity and Time Delay The microos Occupant Sensor has been preset at the midrange of its sensitivity. If the setting is too sensitive, then the lights may not turn OFF automatically. If the setting is not sensitive enough, then the lights may turn OFF prematurely. Motion Indicator (red LED) ANGE Sensitivity (range) Time Delay (minutes) Once construction is finished, the furniture is in place, and the HVAC is ON, set the sensitivity as follows. Least Sensitive Most Sensitive 1.With minimal force, turn the ange Adjustment fully counterclockwise to its least sensitive position 9 12 3 2.Test the area of coverage by watching the red LED motion indicator. Verify that the LED lights when you move at different locations around the room. Moving your hand 12 inches in one second should make the LED light. Note: If the LED does NOT light, turn the ange Adjustment clockwise one hour and recheck. 3.If the LED does not turn off when you are still, the sensor may be detecting motion outside the room or due to moving air from an HVAC vent. Turn the range adjustment counter-clockwise one hour and check the LED again. 4.Adjust the Minutes Adjustment, or delay to off time, as desired for the space. 7:00 6 Set the ange/sensitivity Adjustment so that the sensor is least sensitive. 9 12 8:00 6 Turn the ange/sensitivity Adjustment clockwise one hour. Notes: The Time Delay (minutes) adjustment has been factory preset to its maximum setting of approximately 30 minutes. For non-lutron occupant sensors, please follow the manufacturers instructions for proper calibration. 3
