Defenders of the Last Colony is a 2D Shooter with Strategy gameplay mechanics, where you have to protect the Colony's core while you gather resources and build defenses. You play as one of the 4 classes: Fighter, Striker, Carrier or Engineer. Fighters and Strikers focus on gun power while Engineers can build more structures (like turrets, repair platforms...) and Carriers can defends themselves while carrying more orbs to the colony. Defenders features coop up to 4 players and 3D graphics. Besides is strategy component Defenders is a fast paced arcade with lots of content to unlock, like retro modes and new abilities.
1. Story The Starians came from nowhere, decimating the colonies as they passed. Only one colony survived, carrying four prototype ships they are travelling to save what it's left of the other colonies, and taking as many Starians as they can on their way. While in the game you ll be able to chose from 4 different ships with its unique abilities, then you ll go to the galaxy map. To unlock new areas you have to clear the previous one first. In order to finish one area you have to find the orbs and bring them to the colony. When the core of the colony is charged at 100% then you ll be able to jump and unlock the next area. Attack the enemies but also use your abilities to protect the colony, if the colony gets destroyed you ll have to start from the beginning of the level.
2. Controls Defenders can be played with mouse and keyboard or with a control pad. Cooperative mode can be played with both, one player with mouse and keyboard and the rest with controllers. In the options menu you can set which player is controlled with the keyboard, but also in the character selection screen you can click on the slot you want to control with mouse and keyboard. Constructions To be able to build in the game you have to find the relics hidden in each level. Every Relic will grant you one ability. Once you get 4 relics in different galaxy areas you'll get all the abilities for your selected ship. Every class is capable of making shields, which is the foundation for defending the colony. But construct come in the price of blue matter. Gather blue matter from fallen enemies and remember that for carriers and engineers building is cheaper than for fighters and strikers Striker and Fighter will get offensive abilities, while Engineer and Carrier in addition to shields will be able to build repair platforms known as sanctuaries, hives with attack drones, turrets that attack the enemies, laser shields and defensive spheres
4. Relics Across the galaxy you ll find relics. This crystals contains knowledge of an ancient civilization. We develop our technology based on the relics, if you find more you ll get new abilities for your aircrafts. Check out every corner of the galaxy, you never know when you ll find a relic, keep your eyes open! 5. Orbs Orbs are made of high concentrations of blue matter, the fuel we use to jump across the galaxy. In order to keep searching for a suitable planet for our colony we need orbs. Gather the orbs and take them to the colony, when the core is charged it will automatically jump to the next area.
6. Aircraft Classes 6.1 Engineer The Engineer is a mall cruiser ship, focused on building and repairing abilities. With better maneuver than the standard cruiser ship with lower shields. It can carry more orbs than power/focused ships, but it s slower. It has a wide range of constructions available. Great for defensive pilots.
6.2 Carrier The Carrier is a heavy cruiser ship, designed to hold enemies and carry more orbs than any other ship. Due to its bigger size it can also build a wide range of defenses, but also drag them around its body.
6.3 Striker The Striker is a tactical fighter that can reach the highest speeds in the galaxy. It s the only aircraft with a lightspeed jump built in, which make him the best to evade the toughest situations. It can carry only one orb, like the fighter but it has a few tricks under the hood to compensate. Ideal for pilots who enjoy velocity.
6.4 Fighter Fighter ship is a mall aircraft focused on firepower. it has great speed and firing rate, it can build basic structures like shields, but it's not able to create complex platforms like the engineer ship. It can carry only one orb but it has several weapons it can switch in the battleground. Great for combat pilots.
