A New Dawn
The discovery of significant reserves of oil and gas in Israel heralds a new dawn in the Middle East. Universal Oil and Gas invites you to participate in the first major Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition in Israel. It will take place at the Dead Sea resort area, below the World Heritage site of the mountain fortress of Masada. Israel now has the potential to become second only to Saudi Arabia as an oil producing nation. UOG 2014 will be a unique and historical event that brings together international partners to embrace a new market in Israel that encompasses all areas of the Oil & Gas industry. Our vision is to create a legacy from the event; a footprint that is a step in the journey towards ever increasing prosperity and stability in the region. UOG s innovative Young Ambassador Programme will underpin this ambition. It creates opportunities for skills development and knowledge transfer between partners who recognise the significance of what will follow in the light of this new dawn. Join us on the journey. Introduction Michael Beagelman Chief Executive Officer Universal Oil & Gas June 2013 1 / 2
A transformational change in the Eastern Mediterranean region There have been previous false dawns in predictions around reserves of oil and gas in Israel. New exciting discoveries and developments have been made that change that. Proven hydrocarbon reserves underpin the widely held belief that Israel will become a leader in the global energy sector. The UOG 2014 Conference and Exhibition will take delegates on a journey that encompasses history, discovery and vision to highlight the potential of Israel as a future energy power. As an international event it will bring together keynote speakers and global leaders in the Oil and Gas Industry, to create a universal awareness of the scale of the Israeli discoveries. In turn this will encourage investment, partnerships and progress in Israel and the region. It is a must attend event. Uniquely in the region, UOG 2014 will provide cross-cultural platforms to meet, discuss and share knowledge and expertise among participants from around the world and in particular from energy provinces in the United States, Scotland and Norway. Furthermore it will encourage opportunities for international oil and gas companies to develop a new market in Israel that encompasses every sphere of the sector. Introduction 2 / 2
Can Israel really become an energy giant? The answer from acknowledged experts and respected industry bodies is a resounding YES! Proven onshore Oil Shale reserves are conservatively estimated to total over 250 billion barrels of shale oil. Once in production, these alone will place Israel reserves as second only to those of Saudi Arabia. Israeli scientists have developed revolutionary technology of extracting oil from oil shale using underground heating that requires less water and as a consequence, has far less impact on the environment. As well as unconventional oil, Israel is proposing to drill deep water exploratory wells below the Leviathan gas field targeting 1.5 billion barrels of crude oil. If successful this could lead to even more crude oil discoveries. Leviathan Field: Noble Energy probing 6,500 metres (4 miles) below the Mediterranean seabed using advanced subsea technology. Expected results to be apparent late 2013. Location: 130 km (81 miles) offshore west of Haifa. Shfela Basin: Oil shale deposits discovered; Estimated yield of 250 billion barrels of shale oil; a substitute for crude oil. Officially estimated by World Energy Council in 2012. Location: 50km (30 miles) to south west of Jerusalem. Discovery Rosh Ha ayain: Estimated 1.5 billion barrels of oil found in 2010. Location: 16km (10 miles) in land from Tel Aviv coastline. Natural Gas findings in Israel Proven natural gas reserves, totalling some 30 trillion cubic feet in both the Tamar and Leviathan fields in the Levant Basin, can meet Israel s total energy needs for the next 100 years. As well these significant findings, the Karish field was discovered in July 2013 with an estimated 1.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. On 30th March 2013, natural gas was pumped for the first time from the Tamar Field, onshore at Ashdod and is currently running at full capacity. This turnaround from discovery to delivery in just 4 years highlights Israel s formidable energy potential. Karish Tamar Leviathan Karish Field: Discovered in May 2013. Estimated reserves of 1.8 trillion cubic feet (TCF). Estimated 13 million barrels of crude oil. Location: 100km (62 miles) west of Haifa, Israel. Leviathan Field: Discovered in June 2010. Estimated reserves of 17-19 trillion cubic feet (TCF). Location: 130km (81 miles) west of Haifa, Israel. Tamar Field: Discovered in January 2009. Estimated reserves of 9-10 trillion cubic feet (TCF). Location: 90km (56 miles) west of Haifa, Israel. Discovery Gas field Sources: US Geological Survey (USGS), Bloomberg, Reuters, www.offshoretechnology.com 4 / 5

Leveraging a new era of collaboration to benefit the East Mediterranean region and the world UOG 2014 aims to create a legacy; a clear and dynamic footprint to move forward to develop the Oil & Gas industry in the East Mediterranean region and the world. It is the first chance for leading international Oil & Gas companies and financial global institutions to meet together in Israel in a spirit of partnership. In so doing, they will be participating in a unique opportunity to benefit from entering this new and exciting market. Partnership Doing Business In Israel Unlike many other emerging energy markets, business in Israel is conducted with transparency and good governance: Contract law is similar to that in the European Union and North America There are no currency exchange control restrictions The legal system is free and fair Israel is recognised by Transparency International as being among the least corrupt countries in the world Highly educated workforce Existing highly developed infrastructure One of the global leaders in advanced and innovative technology
A game changing event to inspire future generations, whatever their nationality UOG 2014 will pioneer a unique and innovative Young Ambassadors programme, Transforming Futures 2014. This will encompass a Schools Challenge and University Programme aimed at helping to fill the Skills Gap in the Oil and Gas Industry. Young people from participating countries will be selected to be involved in the Event. A key role for them will be looking after delegates and sponsors. This in turn will lead to an opportunity for our sponsors to award internships and placements to our young ambassadors. Integral to that opportunity will be for UOG 2014 to be the catalyst to promote opportunities for universities in Israel to work in collaboration with their peers in the United States and Scotland to develop the skill sets that will be required in order that society as a whole can benefit from the new found riches of the region.
