Cutting Instructions From Fabric A, fussy cut: six 11 squares From Fabric B, cut: seven 2-1/2 x WOF strips. Subcut: four 2-1/2 x 29-1/2 row sashing strips nine 2-1/2 x 12 block sashing strips eight 2 x WOF strips. Subcut: twelve 2 x 11 for the block side borders twelve 2 x 14 for the block top/bottom borders one 3-3/4 x WOF strip. Subcut: eight 3-3/4 squares for the HSTs one 6 x WOF strip. Subcut: four 6 squares From Fabric C, cut: four 1-1/2 x WOF strips. Subcut: two 1-1/2 x 31-1/2 top/bottom inner borders two 1-1/2 x 43 side inner borders one 3-3/4 x WOF strip. Subcut: eight 3-3/4 squares for the HSTs Trim the remainder of the strip to 3-1/4 wide, then subcut: four 3-1/4 squares From Fabric D, cut: two 8-3/4 x length of fabric strips. Subcut: two 8-3/4 x 45 side middle borders From the remainder of the yardage, cut: three 8-3/4 x WOF strips. Sew together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: two 8-3/4 x 31-1/2 top/bottom middle borders From Fabric E, cut: two 3-1/2 x length of fabric strips. Subcut: two 3-1/2 x 61-1/2 side outer borders From the remainder of the yardage, cut: four 3-1/2 x WOF strips. Subcut: two 3-1/2 x 54 top/bottom outer borders From the Binding Fabric, cut: six 2-1/2 x WOF strips page 3
Assemble the Center Blocks Step 1: Sew a 2 x 11 Fabric B block side border to the left and right edges of each Fabric A square. Press. Sew a 2 x 14 Fabric B block top/bottom border to the top and bottom edges of each Fabric A square. Press. Step 2: Tilt your block slightly and trim to 12 square, ensuring that you leave at least 1/4 of Fabric B beyond each corner of the Fabric A square. The subtle tilting will result in blocks that appear to dance. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to make six Center Blocks, three tilted to the left and three tilted to the right. page 4
Step 3: Arrange the Center Blocks together as indicated in the Quilt Assembly Diagram. Sew each row together, using sashing strips between each block and at the beginning and end of each row. Press seams toward the sashing. Repeat to make three block rows. Step 4: Sew the row sashing strips and block rows together. Press seams open or to the sashing. The quilt center should measure 29-1/2 x 43. page 5
Assemble the Leaf Blocks Step 5: Pair a 3-3/4 Fabric B square with a 3-3/4 Fabric C square, RST. Mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of one square. Sew 1/4 away from both sides of the marked line. Cut on the marked line, creating two half-square triangles (HSTs). Press toward the darker fabric. Trim to 3-1/4 square. Repeat to make sixteen B/C HSTs. Step 6: Gather: one 6 Fabric B square one 3-1/4 Fabric C square four 3-1/4 B/C HSTs Arrange the blocks as shown to form one leaf block. Sew the top row of one Fabric C square and two HSTs together. Press toward the Fabric C square. Sew the remaining two HSTs together, pressing the seam to one side, then sew this pair of HSTs to the large Fabric B square. Press toward the square. Sew the top row to the top of the unit and press. Repeat to make four 8-3/4 leaf blocks. page 6
Adding Borders Step 7: Sew the Fabric C side inner borders to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the Fabric C top and bottom inner borders to the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Step 8: Sew the Fabric D side middle borders to the quilt center, noting the orientation of the print on the fabric. Press toward the borders. Step 9: Sew the leaf blocks to the ends of the top and bottom middle borders, noting the orientation of the blocks and the fabric print in the border. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Step 10: Sew the Fabric E side outer borders to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the Fabric E top and bottom outer borders to the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Your quilt top is now complete! Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy! page 7
