Wed Sat 9 am 6 pm Valley Quilters Guild is really excited to offer the 2018 Splendor in the Desert Quilt Festival. This is not a quilt show. This is a quilting event. We will be offering classes (hopefully up to 24 classes), a vendor mall, a boutique, and lot of other fun stuff. It is the first time our guild is offering this sort of event. It is a 2-day event that will be held March 23-24, 2018 at the Hilton East, 7600 E. Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ. The design of our brochure is being worked on now and will hopefully be ready within the week or so. But, I wanted to give your guild a heads up about the event in hopes that your members can make plans to attend. Also, if they would like to make reservations at the Hilton, we have rooms blocked at a special rate of $129/night plus taxes. When making the reservations, it is important they refer to the 2018 Splendor in the Desert Quilt Festival to get the special rate. Registration for this event will be opened by October 1, 2017. We are also taking proposals from teachers who might be interested in teaching at this event. If anyone in your guild thinks they might be interested in being a teacher, we will pay $25/hr. The classes are either 3- hrs, 6-hrs, or they can offer a 90 min lecture. If a 3-hr or 6-hr class is done, the teacher will also receive a 1/2 night lodging at the Hilton or a full night lodging, respectively as long as they are coming from outside a radius of 150 miles from the event site. Any prospective teachers can contact me for the teacher information/proposal form. If anyone would like more information, they can contact me at ilovequilting1@yahoo.com. (Don't forget the number 1 after the word "quilting") If there is someone else I should send the brochure to via email, please let me know as soon as possible so I can update my data information. Sure hope we get to see some folks from your group at our event. Thanks for your time today, Peggy Schultz ilovequilting1@yahoo.com best way to contact me Event Chair 4
