President s Message December 2013 President s Message Sharon asked me to write this message because she was sailing the high seas at deadline time. Meanwhile, we held a very successful quilt show. I arrived Friday morning just before 10am and was surprised to see not one, but two long lines one for the show itself, and another for the boutique and flea market areas. Everyone I spoke with loved our show and raved over the talent our members displayed. I even heard the ladies at Curves telling one another about the quilts and the wonderful, friendly women that warmly welcomed them. If I were to sum up the experience in just a few words, I would say successful and cooperative. We all pulled together under the very organized guidance of Sandy Scott. What a trouper! The auction was also a big hit and raised a healthy total, So on behalf of Sharon, I want to thank each and every member of this fabulous guild for their combined efforts. Hooray! CHRISTMAS POTLUCK PARTY Thursday, December 5, at 6:00 pm A - I Please bring Main Dish J-R Please bring Salad S-Z Please bring Dessert We are very excited to celebrate the close of an outstanding 2013 year of quilting with the Spirit of Christmas. Together, as a group, we have made quilts for ourselves, family, friends, and charity. We are proud to carry on the heritage and tradition of quilting. QUILTING is the gift that keeps on giving! Salad people: if 2 people bring bread...that would be wonderful! It would be very helpful if we could get two more people to come in at 5:00 to help set up the room at the Community Center. No need to bring food plates, we will provide place settings! Please remember to bring a fat quarter in a brown paper bag, if you want to take part in the fat quarter game! Be prepared for a FUN EVENING!!!!! Tina Rainey: tina.quilter@yahoo.com (760) 223-2560 Betsy Shirkey: betsyshirkey@gmail.com (760) 275-9086 3

Quilt Show News Another successful quilt show has opened and closed! Thanks so much to those who entered their quilts, and many thanks to the hands that helped in all the areas of the show. We had many positive comments from attendees and some suggestions for improvement, some of which we may be able to fix. The Textile Boutique was a great success, as was our first time use of credit cards for purchases in the Boutique and Auction venues. We had what I believe was a record number of Viewer s Choice ballots turned in (360) and the winners will be announced at our December guild meeting. We have DVDs left that will be available at the Membership desk at the December meeting, and the photos will soon be placed on the Guild website. Please be thinking about the next show in 2015 and how you can offer your assistance to one of the committees, in addition to entering your quilts. We re planning some exciting opportunities for each of you to get involved in the show. Thanks again to all those who participated.
