Honorees Reginald Hudlin President Hudlin Entertainment Reginald Hudlin has created, written and/or directed such beloved films as House Party, Boomerang and BeBe s Kids, which are some of the most profitable and influential films of his generation. Hudlin received a Best Picture nomination from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for producing Quentin Tarantino s Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson. The film won multiple awards including two Oscars and two Golden Globe Awards, and is one of the top grossing Westerns of all time. He recently executive produced The 88th Academy Awards. The Academy Awards were his third collaboration with AMPAS, as he also produced the live cinematic concert experience, The Black Movie Soundtrack at the Hollywood Bowl, as well as the 6th Annual Governors Awards. Hudlin also executive produced the last four NAACP Image Awards. Currently in production is Hudlin s next film, Marshall, a legal thriller he is producing and directing, starring Chadwick Boseman, Josh Gad, Kate Hudson and Sterling K. Brown. Cathy Hughes Founder and Chairperson Radio One, Inc. Cathy Hughes is a dynamic, media pioneer who demonstrates the power of one one woman, one vision, one company Radio One. As founder and chairperson of Radio One., Inc., the largest African American-owned and operated broadcast company in the nation, Hughes has had an unprecedented career that has spawned a multimedia conglomerate that generates original content across the spectrums of radio, television and digital media. Her humble beginnings in her hometown, Omaha, NE, were not a deterrent to her success but rather part of the catalyst that fueled her ambition to empower African Americans with information and to tell stories from their perspective. Cathy Hughes philanthropic works are on par with her success in the business arena as well. Her passion for education is evident in her efforts to continue her family s work and legacy at The Piney Woods School (MS). She is a staunch supporter of the school, which was established by her grandfather in 1909 and is the largest of only four African American boarding schools in the country. In addition, she is a champion for the hungry and homeless, a mentor to countless women, and an advocate dedicated to empowering minority communities. Derek Jones Managing Director, GCM Grosvenor Private Markets Derek Jones is a managing director and member of the Investment Committee for GCM Grosvenor Private Markets. He leads the co-investment team with over $3.5 billion invested in over 185 companies and the diverse managers practice with approximately $3 billion advised on and committed. His responsibilities also involve relationship management, which includes serving on 18 advisory boards, deal sourcing and conducting due diligence. Prior to joining GCM Grosvenor, Jones was a managing director in the Customized Fund Investment Group of Credit Suisse Group AG. Prior to Credit Suisse, he was a managing partner at Oncore Capital, as well as a General Partner at Provender Capital. He started his private equity career (28 years ago) at Prudential Insurance Company as part of Prudential Equity Investors, which subsequently became Cornerstone Equity Investors, where he was a partner.
