And from our Facebook Page: Marie Plinsky s Art Goes to New Jersey In the middle of December Sue Dalrymple from Neptune, N J contacted Topeka Art Guild Gallery asking about a painting she had seen when visiting the gallery over Thanksgiving weekend. She said she comes to Fairlawn Plaza Mall every Thanksgiving to see Santa with her grandchildren. After returning home she kept thinking about "Music In the Hills." by Marie. She contacted the gallery to see if it was available to purchase. Although the show had changed at Topeka Art Guild, this piece was on display at Eagle Car Wash. After Christmas, the beautiful piece of art was shipped to New Jersey to it's new home. The piece is an impressionist fall view of the Flint Hills. The most distant hills are mixed media made from painted paper with words and music. An exciting time for Marie to be able to share the Flint Hills with people in New Jersey through her art.
FEBRUARY ARTIST OF THE MONTH The Topeka Artistic Conspiracy exhibit Members of the Topeka Art Guild and The Kansas Authors Club have collaborated to create an exhibit where visual and written works are paired to create one project.

SPRING ARTIST AWAKENING Explorations in Mixed Media by Kayann Ausherman http://www.tesserafineartgallery.com/kayann-ausherman.html Join the Topeka Art Guild for our first 2018 4 day Workshop with artist Kayann Ausherman. Kayann will spend 4 days giving 8 sessions on Exploring Mixed Media. We will spend the 4 days learning about product, tools, techniques and finalize the 4 days pulling it all together in an individual artist project. Starting with Painter Papers and Mark Making Tools we will begin to build toward a mixed media piece of art. Kayann will spend one session in Citra Solv Boot Camp working with magazine pages and dissolving the ink, then the advanced session of Citra Solv using things like Saran wrap to get your creative juices flowing. She will teach you to use techniques like air brushing, watercolor masking and other techniques to build projects. On to Reverse Painting using the painted piece made in the session before to create a finished piece. Day 4 is bringing the techniques and tools all together to make a final 16 X 20 piece.
