Monthly Release of Industrial Production Statistics (IPS) Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) January/2014 Issue 07 Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) publishes the Industrial Production Statistics (IPS) on a regular basis. It is a great pleasure to release the Quantum Index of Industrial Production (QIIP) of the base year 2005-06 indices for the month of January, 2014 in this publication. This publication presents the data on industrial production of selected industries along with the monthly estimates of Quantum Index of Industrial Production (QIIP) of medium and large-scale manufacturing industries for the base years 2005-06. Indicators of this publication are expected to provide good idea about the trend of industrial production in the country over a long time. To assess movement of industrial production in Bangladesh, data are collected from State Owned Manufacturing Enterprises (SOEs) and major manufacturing enterprises in the private sector on a monthly basis. I firmly believe that the Release would be a useful document for planners, policy makers, researchers, development partners/agencies, academicians and other stakeholders. Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Director, National Accounting Wing and also Deputy Director, Statistical Officer, Assistant Statistical Officer and other staff of the wing for bringing out this publication at regular intervals. Comments and suggestions for further improvement of this publication will be highly appreciated. Golam Mostafa Kamal (Additional Secretary) Director General
