PRODUCT CATALOGUE
The Shop This is not your average Hotel gift shop. GH Marketplace is a curated selection of locally made goods chosen from the Hotel s monthly flea markets and ongoing local partnerships. The shop, located at the Hotel s front desk features a curated selection of souvenirs inspired by the Hotel s history and art. In an effort to connect hotel guests with local makers and support micro economies, the Gladstone hopes its marketplace will initiate conversation and exploration both inside and outside the Hotel s walls. GH Marketplace s fall/winter 18 collection will include wearable art by Parkdale s Made You Look Jewellery, literary art by Flying Books, urban souvenir art by Spacing Magazine and eatable art by CXBO chocolates. Each month the Marketplace will explode into the Hotel s Ballroom on a Sunday to showcase even more local creations! Upcoming dates include: Made By Feminists Market on November 18 and a Textile Holiday Market on December 16! For more details, head to gladstonehotel.com/events.

GH X CXBO Chocolate CXBO is a passion project that is a local success story just like the Gladstone. We believe their chocolates are works of art both in flavour and aesthetic. CXBO co-owner Chef Brandon Olsen (also owner of La Banane French restaurant on Ossington St) was the guest chef who created our Harvest Wednesday s 2018 Pride Picnic. And his partner Sarah Keenlyside has a strong connection to the Gladstone as a past Come Up to My Room Exhibition participant and as the artist behind the Aura Room our latest artist designed hotel room. GH X Spacing Magazine Spacing Magazine was launched in the fall of 2003 by a group of young journalists and public space advocates who felt that Toronto needed a publication that would bring together a number of key urban issues that were not being discussed by the local media. Topics like public transit, urban design, public art, community planning, and sustainable development were brought together under one umbrella to create a forum for residents and the urban curious to discuss these pressing topics. GH X Flying Books The Gladstone Hotel has a long history as a literary hub. Over 300 books have been launched at the Gladstone. Many by famous Toronto authors such as Margaret Atwood and Dionne Brand. And many books have been written on site by writers hunkered down in our cafe or studio spaces. Flying Books founder Martha Sharpe believes to read is to take flight. Great writing transports you to other places, takes risks, breaks down barriers, and enlivens your world. Flying Books is a uniquely Canadian and specifically Torontonian initiative. That s Amelia Earhart in the Flying Books logo, drawn by artist and writer Leanne Shapton. When Earhart witnessed the air show at the 1917 Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, she was inspired by the possibilities of aviation, a marvel of modern invention, as she called it. Flying Books takes her as its inspiration, opening on the first day of the 2015 CNE, and launching marvels of written invention one flight at a time to land on our Front Desk. Come down to our front desk to see her seasonal selections that rotate monthly.
