Bar Admissions California & U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Hector Gallegos engages in a practice focused on high technology and intellectual property litigation. Mr. Gallegos has represented foreign and domestic companies in patent litigation in U.S. District Courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and before the International Trade Commission. The technologies at issue have included telecommunications systems, semiconductor processes, programmable logic devices, video display processors, magnetic disk drives, laser printers~ industrial test equipment, medical devices, and software, among others. M:r. Gallegos also counsels clients in support of licensing of intellectual property rights worldwide. Mr. Ga1legos 1 s substantial experience includes a broad range of complex business litigation involving software development disputes, copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and unfair competition. Mr. Gallegos also has considerable experience with govemment contracts in the defense procurement area, and has counseled clients in cormection with government investigations under the Federal False Claims Act Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Gallegos devoted seven years to an engineering career with Hughes Aircraft Company where he developed specific expertise in the areas of computer hardware and software architecture~ communication systems. digital and analog electronics, and digital signal processing. Mr. Gallegos also maintains an active pro bono practice. In April2000, he was awarded the Pro Bono Civil Liberties Award by the ACLU Foundation of Southern California. The district court granted Judgment to Altera, and a favorable settlement was reached before a post trial decision was rendered by the Judge in the ITC action..., Norton v. Norton- Successfully represented client through a protracted trial involving software development and copyright ovvnership, brand value, executive compensation, and business valuation. e Angeion Corporation v. Cardiac Pacemakers, Inc. - Prevailed on summary judgment of patent infringement involving implantable defibrillator tedmology, and subsequently obtained a $35 million settlement.

To begin the appointment process, please review, sign and return the enclosed City Commissioner Ethics Pledge, Commission Remuneration Form, Undated Separation Form and Background Release within one week of receiving this letter. These documents are necessary to help us ensure the most efficient, open and accountable City government possible. Under separate cover you will be receiving a packet from the City Ethics Commission containing information about the City's conflict of interest laws and a copy of the State Form 700/Statement of Economic Interests. City law requires that you complete and return this form within 21 days of your nomination to the City Ethics Commission, 200 North Spring Street, City Hall, 24th Floor, Los Angeles, California 90012.
