HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK CLASS-IV Happy Holidays TIPS FOR CHILDREN 1. God gives us 24 hours in a day, let us take out few minutes for Him and thank Him for the happy moments also ask Him to give us strength to cope up with our difficulties. 2. Don t be lazy.and become a couch potato!! Go out for walks, do exercises and be fit and healthy. Play outdoor games, make new friends.. Go cycling, play badminton, cricket, kho-kho, catch, hide n seek anything that will make you run. Along with the activities revise all the concepts done in the class. 3. Reading is fun and it helps us develop our vocabulary. Make it a habit to read story books. Get 1-2 story books back to class. A class library will be maintained. TIPS FOR PARENTS 1. Give your child saplings and ask them to plant them and water them and see them grow. Encourage them by saying that they will be presented with gifts for their good deeds. 2. Go to the nearest bank and show them the functioning of the banks, how ATMs work and what is the benefit of it. 3. Make them sit by you and ask them what their needs are and satisfy some of the useful ones and explain them which ones are essential and which ones are not. Give them a feeling that you are there for them. NOTE: Homework of all subjects should be submitted on 27 th June,2018 to the class teacher in their respective classes between 8:30am to 10:00am

ENGLISH 1. Write the meanings for all the words uploaded on the website, starting from 21st May. Do this work in your Word of the Day notebook. 2. Make your own Quote of the Day Diary. Write a famous saying/quotation of any great personality for at least 20 days. Decorate the cover of your Quote of the Day diary beautifully. Write the meaning of these quotes along with the names of the personalities who have written these quotes. 3. Write a Book Review of any two books which you ve read from the Class Library. 4. Watch the movie, Life of Pi. Imagine yourself in the shoes of any of your favourite character. What did you like about him/her? How has he/she inspired you? Describe the character Write a paragraph about the same. 5. Write a short story, in about 100-150 words, beginning with the following lines, My mom went into the kitchen and shouted. Find the number of children in the town. 2. A shopkeeper has 2425 boxes of 24 pencils each. How many pencils do all the boxes have in all? 3. Linda bought a coat for 2265 and a saree for 2150. She gave 5000 to the shopkeeper. How much money did the shopkeeper return to her? 4. The cost of 4 TV sets is 9584. Find the cost of one TV set. What will be the cost of 9 such sets? 5. A factory produces 4532 bulbs in a month. What is its annual production? 6. There are 145968 bags of sugar, 236487 bags of wheat and some bags of rice in a godown. It the total number of bags in the godown is 450000, find the number of bags of rice. 7. A factory manufactured 483685 toys in three weeks. The production in first week was 146345 toys and in second week 138152 toys. Find the production in the third week. 8. The cost of a sofa set is 9372. How much will 24 such sofa sets cost? 9. There are 6 rooms on a floor. 438 students sit there. If equal number of students sit in each room, find the number of students in each room. 10. 1575 students of a school want to go Agra by bus. If one bus can carry 5 students, how many buses are required to carry all the students? 11. There are 5 lakh people in a town. If the number of children are 45000 and no. of men are 57554. How many women are there in the town? 12. The cost of 6 laptops is Rs. 40,000. Find the cost of 7 such laptops. SCIENCE 1. Make your own Herbarium and be a botanist. Instructions : Collect the leaves you wish to press and bring them home. Clean off any dirt or bugs from the plant. Open a thick, heavy book and line the pages with a couple of pieces of paper. Place the leaf you wish to press on the paper, being careful to spread out the leaf so you can

see all the parts of it. The entire leaf should fit on one piece of paper. If the leaf is large, bend and fold it to make it fit. Then carefully close the book. You can dry several leaves in the same book by spacing them several pages apart. Once you have all the leaves you wish to press in your book, put something heavy on top of the book (such as couple of more books) and set it aside for 7 to 10 days to let the leaves dry. 2. Is global warming natural or it is caused by humans? If yes then why? Write your views in about 100 words on an A4 size sheet. 3. Read the maximum and minimum temperature of 15 days from the newspaper and make a weather report on a pastel sheet. (A4 sheet) 4. Answer the following questions: ( On an A4 size sheet) a.
