I. GSR IMPORT FILE FORMAT AND CONTENT To facilitate the entry of secondary or inscription service(s) for items currently at GIA into GIA s database, the Client may provide GIA with an electronic file containing detailed item information and requested secondary or inscription service(s). The import file reduces the amount of time it takes to add and process these additional services. This file must be formatted as described below. Basically, this GSR Import file can simply be created by modifying the Result file sent to you by your Gemological Services Representative such as: 1) Delete the Diamond Dossier column and all columns after the Report No column 2) Add four (4) new columns (Report Action, Service, Service Comment, Inscription Text) between the Control No and Report No columns. File type: Must be comma-separated value file (.csv) File name: Should include the Memo Number of incoming shipment Headings: Must not include column headings (titles) Columns: File must include the following seven (7) columns in the order listed below; required data is indicated by an asterisk (*). Although some columns can be left blank because data is not required, it is important that there are a total of seven (7) columns in the file and in the following order. o *Column 1: Job No List the unique GIA-provided Job Number o *Column 2: Control No List the unique GIA-provided Control Number o *Column 3: Report Action List one of the following GIA standard report instruction (case is insensitive): Print, Recheck, Report Sleeve, or Hold 1. Print: use if you want GIA to print the GIA Report and return the item to you. 2. Recheck: use if you will be requesting additional grading or inscription services. 3. Report Sleeve: use on full grading reports when you would like GIA to print the Report Sleeve in lieu of the full report. 4. Hold: use if you want GIA to wait to hear from you for further instruction. o Column 4: Service If Report Action is Recheck, then list GIA s standard service code(s) for the additional grading or inscription services you would like to request. Separate multiple services with a comma (for example, enter RE-COL,RE-CLA for Recheck Color (D-Z) and Recheck Clarity); refer to section II for standard service codes and usage. o Column 5: Service Comment - If you are requesting the Recheck Other or Final Observation Other service, list the parameter to be re-evaluated must be entered separated by a comma. For example, for a re-evaluation of the shape enter shape. - For all other services, any pertinent service comment / remark may be entered. - Please refrain from entering any comment that describes desired grading result or identifies the client or a GIA employee. o Column 6: Inscription Text This field is required if requesting an inscription service other than the GIA Report Number (service code I). Enter the requested inscription text or logo. o *Column 7: Report No List the GIA-provided Report Number. Email your import file to your GSR for downloading into our system. Page 3

II. GIA S AND DESCRIPTIONS a. Diamond Report Services CDG CDIOR DG DESCRIPTION AVAILABILITY / USE Colored Diamond Grading Report Colored Diamond Identification & Origin Report Diamond Grading Report The GIA Colored Diamond Grading Report provides a full quality assessment of a colored diamond including the colored diamond color grade, color origin (natural or treated, such as HPHT processed or artificially irradiated), carat weight, clarity, and a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics. The GIA Colored Diamond Identification and Origin Report describes the color grade of a colored diamond as well as its origin of color (natural or treated, such as HPHT processed or artificially irradiated). The GIA Diamond Grading Report includes an assessment of a diamond s 4C s color, clarity, cut, and carat weight along with a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics and a graphic representation of the diamond s proportions. For standard round brilliant cut diamonds falling in the D-Z color range, the report also includes a GIA Cut grade. Available on polished, natural, loose colored diamonds weighing 0.15 ct or more. Diamond may have treatments that are considered stable under normal conditions and which will be clearly disclosed including laser drilling, HPHT processing, and artificial irradiation. Not available on diamonds with unstable treatments including fracture filling or surface coating. Available on polished, natural, loose or mounted colored diamonds of any weight. May have treatments that are considered stable under normal conditions and which will be clearly disclosed including laser drilling, HPHT processing, and artificial irradiation. DOSS DR MAST DESCRIPTION AVAILABILITY / USE Diamond Dossier Damage Report Diamond Master Diamond Grading The GIA Diamond Dossier offers the same grading information as the GIA Diamond Grading Report but without the plotted diagram. As an added identification feature, the Dossier service includes a laser inscription of the GIA Report Number on the diamond s girdle. A supplement to a GIA diamond report, this service provides a gemological determination of any damage a diamond may have incurred since it was last polished. The findings are documented on a GIA Identification Report format. This service includes an analysis of diamonds to be assembled into a master diamond set for D to Z color grading. Each diamond submitted must meet stringent criteria (shape, weight, proportions, conditions, relative position on the GIA D-to-Z color scale, etc) to be included as part of a set. The set of master diamonds is issued a Master Diamond report listing the diamonds in the set and their color grade. Available on polished, natural, loose diamonds in the D to Z color range that weigh between 0.15 and 1.99 cts. May have laser drilling which will be clearly disclosed. Not available on diamonds that have undergone unstable treatments such as fracture filling or coating, or those that have been HPHT processed. This service is used in combination with a diamond report service (DG, Dossier, CDG, CDIOR). Please contact GIA for more information if you are interested in submitting items for this service.
