MUDSOCK MESSENGER Meetings: 2 nd Monday of each month Fishers United Methodist Church 9691 East 116th Street, Fishers, Indiana [Website] mudsockquiltersguild.org OCTOBER 2017 Volume 7, Issue 10 From the President s Sewing Desk Happy Fall! The weather is starting to get cooler (maybe) and the leaves are starting to turn. I feel inspired to make at least a fall leaf wall hanging sometime soon. I have a fall quilt for one of my beds, but I could always make one for the other two beds in the house. So many ideas, so little time!! I'm getting really excited about the bus trip to Missouri Star. It should be lots of fun. Hopefully I won't find too much fabric that I can't live without. My stash keeps growing even though I am using up some of my fabrics for projects for myself and for Community. I really think the fabric fairies are adding to the piles when I'm not looking. How can I use up fabric, but the piles never get smaller? Do you have some scraps of a very favorite fabric that you hate to use the last piece? I've even used some of them, and I still have LOTS! I'm always excited to start a new project, so I need to finish the ones I have started already before I get into a new one. I am working on my UFO project that I started over year ago. It is coming along pretty well, now I just have to do borders, backing and quilting. There is hope yet that it will be done before the end of the year. How are your UFOs coming along? It is time to start planning for the quilt guild officers and committees for 2018. Please take time to review the officer and committee descriptions on the website. We recently updated them, so you can decide if you want to volunteer for an office or committee membership. The more volunteers we have, the less work for OCTOBER BIRTHDAYS Happy B-Day to: 11 Audrey Nelson 12 Pat Adams 16 Rosie Antonides 17 Pat Osborn 23 Joanie Riddle 26 Kimberly Scott Welcome to New Members! We will have a presentation by Caryl Schuetz, a certified quilted textile appraiser. She will be discussing antique quilts and their appraisal. (NOTE: Caryl will be unable to do any appraisals at the meeting.) Hope to see you all there! Submitted by Sandy Metzger, Program Chair Missouri Star Bus Trip We will depart on Oct 10, 2017 from Grace Church, 12450 Olio Rd, Fishers, IN 46037, and return on Oct 12 stopping at a Hickory Stick Quilt store in Hannibal, Missouri for shopping and lunch.
