competition rules IMPORTANT DATES Entry forms should be send in before 15 January 2010 to our office address in Leende. Halfway during February you will receive notice whether your entry is accepted into the competition. Every effort will be made to exhibit all entries which comply with the rules of entry, but will naturally need to be limited to the amount of hanging space available to the organisers. The money you have included for the returning of your quilt will be refunded if your entry is not accepted. Your entry fee will not be refunded in case your work is not accepted. During April you will receive labels to accompany your entry, whether you send it by post/carrier or deliver your entry yourself. Personal delivery of entries only on Tuesday 27th April 2010 to our event address in Veldhoven. Entries sent in by post or carrier should arrive before Tuesday 27th April 2010 at our event address in Veldhoven. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased up and until Tuesday 27 April. Personal collection of entries only on Sunday 2rd May 2010 one hour after the exhibition closes at our event address in Veldhoven. RULES FOR COMPETITORS ELIGIBILITY Any garment, quilt or wall hanging in patchwork, quilting or appliqué completed since 30 april 2009. An entry must consist of three layers which are sewn together. The main material of the entry must be textile. Also kitquilts and tied-quilts are excluded from the contest. Garments are possible too. One entry per category. No more entries than two per person. Please use a separate form for each entry. Entries entered in the novice category must be patched and quilted by the maker him or herself. If you have won a prize in the novice or intermediate category you are obliged to enter your work this year in the subsequent category. The jurors have the right to assign an entry to a different category if deemed more appropriate.
PHOTOGRAPHS The first photograph of the entry should show the whole area of the entry (whether completed or not) and be of sufficient quality to allow Patchwork Promotions to see the colour, design and general appearance of the entry to assist in the staging of the exhibition. The second photograph should show a detail of your work. Please write your name and the name of the quilt on the back of the photographs. Also indicate the top of the quilt. Acceptance of an entry assumes the grant of permission by the maker for the entry to be photographed and for it to be used for publicity purposes and for the catalogue. SLEEVES A 10 cm deep sleeve should be stitched firmly to the back at the top of each quilt to help with hanging. Quilts with shaped tops must have suitable loops attached to take a batten. DELIVERY OF ENTRIES During April labels will be sent for your use when submitting your entry, whether by post, carrier or personal delivery. Personal delivery only on Tuesday 27th April 2010 to Veldhoven. Entries by post or carrier should arrive before Tuesday 27th April 2010. RECEIPTS Receipts for entries will be handed to those making personal deliveries. Quilters who wish to send their entries in by post or carrier can collect their receipt on Sunday morning at the entrance desk. Receipts should be carefully preserved, as they are the only proof of ownership accepted by the organisers. ENTRY COLLECTION Entries may be collected at Veldhoven on Sunday 2rd May 2010 one hour after the exhibition closes. Receipts should be produced. RETURN DESPATCH Entries not collected can be returned by post. Please enclose 25,-- for this. Return by carrier 100,--. ENTRIES FOR SALE The selling price stated should include 10% sales commission. AWARDS Independent judges will award trophies, rosettes and certificates as appropriate for the classes listed overleaf. Marks are awarded for design, creativity, colour, workmanship, theme and garment regardless of category or class. The judges decision is final. PRIZEGIVING Prizegiving ceremony will be held on the evening of Thursday 29th April 2010 during the Championships Dinner. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased up and until Tuesday 27 April. Hopefully all contributors will be able to attend. SAFETY Whilst every reasonable effort will be made by the organisers to ensure safety of the entry, no responsibility for any loss or damage is accepted by the organisers. All entries are held at owners risk.
