Page 2 Round Tuffet Wouldn t it be fun to use our favorite fabric to make a piece of furniture? If this sounds interesting, then this is the class for you. In just two classes you will create your own unique tuffet. If you know how to use a rotary cutter and can sew a straight line, the class will be nothing but fun. In the first class you learn the technique to make the cover to your tuffet. You will then have time to complete your cover before the second class. The second class we put it all together. Quilted Tote Bag This is a fun bag that can be quickly completed with the serger. The center has a gathered puffing strip and an inside pocket for items you don t want to lose in the bottom of the bag. By the time you are finished, you will have lined the bag with channel quilting. A unique handle that holds the top of the bag secure adds to the usefulness of this bag. Don t have a serger? Page 3 Square Tuffet As with the very successful round tuffet class, the square tuffet will require sewing skills. With the use of templates, you will cut out all the pieces you need to finish your unique piece of furniture. The remainder of our time is spent learning how to sew 1/4 of your tuffet cover together. This will give you the confidence to go home and sew the remaining 3 sections. In the second class, we get out the power tools and you put it all together. Lucky Stars: A Start to Finish Quilt Count the number of stars you want to make, select that many fat quarters and some background fabric, then put them together in a setting that is both unique and easy. From the first cut to the last stitch we ll be with you all the way. The quilt we will make in this class is 60 x75. It requires a pattern. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! Page 5 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month (exceptions starred) a group of experienced, charityminded quilters meet at PQW to sew for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are donated to care facilities to be given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a handmade quilt. Although all the spots for sewing participants are filled, we can certainly use more volunteers to sew quilts at home. Kits will be provided. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. The mission of the QoVF is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts since 2003. The Peacemakers formed just over a year ago, have 27 members and have over 100 quilts either presented, in process or ready to be presented. We will be sewing at Pennington Quilt Works from 10:30 to 3:00 on the following Mondays: January 4, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, and December 9.
