Evening Star Quilters Guild - The Stitch Line A Note From the ESQG President NOVEMBER, 2017, Volume 9 Dear Evening Star Quilt Guild members, Welcome to November! Once again, congratulations on a fabulous quilt show! It was such a delightful weekend, and one that ran smoothly as all the planning and preparation fell neatly into place. The Evening Star Quilter's Guild would like to thank all of those who attended our show at Belvidere High School in Belvidere NJ on October 21st and 22nd, 2017. 103 quilts were showcased by our members and 50 handmade items were auctioned off to benefit the Haven of Hope for Kids in Hope, NJ. We hope you enjoyed our show as much as we enjoyed presenting it. This month we will enjoy a lecture and workshop by Gyleen Fitzgerald. Gyleen will be lecturing on the Art of Coloring at our Tuesday meeting, to be followed by a workshop on Wednesday entitled, Trash to Treasure Pineapples at the church in Hope. In keeping with the theme, how many of you have a "turkey" quilt hidden away deep in your closet that you don't want anyone to see? Perhaps you started it with grand plans of working on it a little everyday to get through the tedious piecing, or perhaps it's one of those that seemed like a good idea at the time, but the fabrics or colors did not turn out the way you envisioned them? Drag that turkey out of the closet and bring it to the November meeting for Show and Tell. Perhaps your fellow guild members will offer suggestions to either fix it, finish it, (or flush it) so that you, too, can make your trash an acceptable treasure. Then with Thanksgiving fast approaching, take time from your sewing to enjoy your family and friends. We are all blessed to have one another in our lives. Remember, it isn't so much what is on the table that matters, but what is on the chairs. Enjoy your holiday! Cynthia A Smith President, ESQG THINGS TO BRING TO THE NOVEMBER MEETING: Placemats - give to Natalie D'Aiello Quilt show lawn signs - return to Irene Compton Row-by-Row - your bin with fabric, completed first row, and journal for the exchange "Turkey" quilt for Show and Tell 30's Block of the Month - Irene Compton Quilts of Valor Block of the Month - Rich Danner Smiles and enthusiasm!

EVENING STAR QUILTERS GUILD - THE STITCH LINE Quilt of Valor Blocks This month the star quilt block will be the Entwined Star. Please follow directions for 12 block. The directions Quilt of Valor Block of the Month will be distributed at the Guild Meeting on Tuesday, November 14. Thank you to all who are making blocks. Every block made adds us to one more quilt for one of our deserving heroic service men and women. Please remember to bring the block you made from last month s directions to the November Guild meeting. Piece and goodness to all, Rich Danner Page 2 Block of the Month Congratulations to the three winners of the October Block of the Month! Is it just a coincidence that our ManQuilter Rich, a chef by trade, was one of the winners of the "Broken Dishes" block? Irene Compton will be handing out directions for the 1930 s themed block of the month at the Guild Meeting. Mystery Quilt Sign up with Marlene Marlow, pay your $20 fee to participate in the Mystery Quilt, and receive your fabric requirements and cutting directions. Spolier alert - if you haven't already signed up: it only requires 3 fabrics! Don't miss out on the fun, sign up now! Mystery Quilt workshop at St. John s in Hope on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Row Quilt The 2017 Row Quilt has two full groups. The first row is due at the November Guild meeting along with the box of fabric, first completed row and journal. Community Projects This month we are looking for placemats for Meals-on-Wheels. We are also looking for small projects that Bonnie can sell at the Christmas Market in Hope. All of the money raised will be donated to St. John s. Hospitality We love our goodies, and we would love someone to chair this committee! Please step up and help. Warren County Fair We still need someone to represent the guild and coordinate our display at the Warren County Farmers' Fair next summer. The annual Chairman Meeting with the Board of Directors is being held on Monday, November 20, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Extension Office located at 165 County Route 519 South - Lower Level in Belvidere, NJ. The purpose of the meeting is to review this year's fair and offer suggestions for new events or changes to current programs. Please consider this position and plan to attend this meeting. Notify a board member if you are interested.

So many hands indeed made light work! 2019 will be here before we know it. A Sincere THANK YOU I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you for giving of your time and talents in making the eye glass cases for the quilt show.
