Kevin Hicks Bio Kevin Hicks started in music & theatre. In high school, he wrote several choral pieces for local schools. He also acted in many of his high school s plays and musicals. He attended Cornell University, studying acting, production and theatre history. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. After a short time in Los Angeles, Kevin began working for DIC Enterprises as a talent coordinator. It was there that he met is wife, Vickie. Kevin soon took up screenwriting. Some of his earlier works caught the attention of a reader at Wendy Finerman Productions a Tristar production company at the time, who later produced Forrest Gump. After the birth of his son, Kevin and his wife, Vickie, left Los Angeles. It was then that he started writing novels. Kevin was picked up by Sue Yuen of the Susan Herner Rights Agency a literary agency in New York City - in 1995. He wrote four novels while under contract with them, still writing songs and composing music on the side. In 2001, his fourth novel, The Bad Men, was line edited by Senior Editor, Allison McCabe at Penguin Putnam. While the book was looking promising, the attacks of 9-11 caused the book to be tabled. At that time, Kevin s focus shifted from writing to full production. Kevin took his music and writing background and formed Hark Productions an audio and graphic production company. He soon incorporated video work into the production slate and turned Hark Productions into an award-winning multimedia entity and built two ecommerce ventures Hark Loops and Hark Music Series as well as continuing to pursue his passion for video. After taking on various roles of writer, director, editor & producer of numerous commercial / industrial / academia projects, Kevin came on as director of Cayuga Lake Wine Country a program-length DVD for ELK Productions. A year and a half later, with more productions under his belt, he directed his first feature film, Waiting On Alphie, which he also wrote. Waiting On Alphie combined all of Kevin s past experience as a composer, writer, actor, editor, camera operator and visual artist. It was the quality of Waiting On Alphie - as well as well-crafted script by his wife, Vickie - that sparked the interest of the initial development financiers for Among The Shadows. As Among The Shadows develops, Kevin has written and directed his second feature, Dream House, which will be completed in the fall of 2008. 1
