Input coastal fish to HOLAS II (see document sent out via mail last week)

Input for coastal fish was submitted 31/1-2017 to HELCOM First, indicator status was scored per monitoring area using the assessment protocol for coastal fish (baseline or trendbased approach) => yielding whether or not the status per monitoring area is GES or subges (see doc 3-4)

To match the BEAT-tool as developed within HOLAS II, indicator status was normalized (0-1; 0 = min value and 1 = max value; threshold value 0.6). Max value 0.875 0.625 0.375 Min value 0.125

How this was done: Baseline assessment Key species and piscivores Cyprinids/mesopredators *If upper threshold was used, then obs value = 0.6+(1-ln(assessment value +1)/value at upper threshold), which was classified to the neareast low value of 0.125, 0.375, 0.625 or 0.875. This concerns the data series Finnish ICES SD 29 and Finnish ICES SD 31 in Finland, and Kvädöfjärden long time series in Sweden ** If lower threshold was used then obs value =0.6+(1-ln(assessment value+1))/lower threshold, which was classified to the neareast low value of 0.125, 0.375, 0.625 or 0.875, this only concerns the data series Finnish ICES SD 30, Finland.

How this was done: Trend-based assessment

Aggregation from monitoring area to assessment unit scale 4 Status value for each assessment unit was derived by averaging the status across monitoring areas within assessment units

Confidence in assessment ConfA (confidence in assessment): - 1 = fisheries independent monitoring; - 0.5 = fisheries dependent monitoring targeting focal species; - 0 = fisheries dependent monitoring not targeting focal species (i.e. cyprinids) ConfT (confidence in temporal coverage): - 1 = all years included during 2011-2016; - 0.5 = one or two years missing between 2011-2016; - 0 = more than two years missing between 2011-2016 ConfS (confidence in spatial coverage): - 1 = full coverage/several monitoring areas per assessment unit given its size; - 0.5 = two monitoring areas per assessment unit; - 0 = one monitoring area per assessement unit ConfM (confidence in methodology) - 1 = methodological standards (monitoring guidelines) in place - 0.5 = NA - 0 = NA
