The most importnt element of your presenttion is ENTHUSIASM. If you weren t enthusistic you wouldn t be stnding there fcing ll those people with book in your hnd! You re tlking bout A GOOD READ BOOKS YOU COULDN T PUT DOWN not necessrily books tht hve won wrds or re seen s the right thing to be reding. Do, however, choose book tht people will be ble to get hold of it they wnt to red it for themselves. PREPARATION PAYS OFF. If you know wht you re going to tlk bout nd hve the pges for redings book-mrked you will feel more confident. USE NOTES if they help you feel more certin of wht you re doing. PRACTISE BEFORE THE EVENT, either on friend or nother Word Herdie. IT S OFTEN EASIER TO TALK TO A GROUP OF PEOPLE IF YOU ARE STANDING. If you think tht will mke you nervous mke sure you ve got tble behind you nd prop yourself on it. It works we promise you. If you don t feel comfortble with where you re to sit or stnd move the chirs round, push the tble to one side, DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO MAKE YOU FEEL OK. Mke sure you nd your collegues re together tht wy you re prt of your own group. If the person rrnging the tlk hsn t put GLASS OF WATER out for you, sk for one before you begin. You might not need it but you cn be certin you will if it isn t there! If fcing lrge group of people mkes you feel nervous PICK A COUPLE OF PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE AND GIVE YOUR TALK TO THEM. Try to mke EYE CONTACT. Remember you will hve people with you who re lso reders. SUPPORT EACH OTHER nd chip in if you relise someone is struggling. Remember you LOVE READING, you KNOW YOUR BOOKS, you re THERE BY INVITATION. Enjoy yourselves nd hve fun! Your enthusism will be infectious, stimulting nd ttrctive to others.
