SafeKey Check Module SafeKey is a Sophisticated Electronic System that rapidly and accurately checks a driver s reaction time. The SafeKey is a unique ignition key immobilizer that prevents a vehicle engine from starting if the driver is unfit to drive safely. It is fully independent of other driver analysis methods breath or otherwise. It analyzes the only thing that counts: how quickly a driver can react to a stimulus braking, swerving, avoiding pedestrians and the like. It s well-known that many drugs, including alcohol, significantly increase the time a person requires to react to a change in circumstance such as a red light or obstruction in the road. About the size of a conventional automotive key, the Check Module is the testing portion of the ignition lock system. The Check Module is easy to attach to one s key ring. As further built-in security a given Check Module only communicates with a unique and individual code only with the interlock device specifically installed in the vehicle. Their blood-alcohol level and subsequent performance of SafeKey s ignition interlock Check Module sequence was measured and recorded. Alcohol was used as a controlled test substance because drugs, over the counter medications, low blood sugar and the like were difficult to evaluate and particularly dangerous. The study was conducted under the direction of Dr. Richard Galbraith, SafeKey Corporation s Executive Vice President and Chief of Medical Affairs. The study was conducted by research consultants with expertise in research methodology, data collection, and analysis in the drug and alcohol field. In order to estimate blood alcohol levels, the study employed the industry standard Alco-Sensor IV with memory, which is manufactured by AlcoPro, Inc. The Alco-Sensor IV is approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation for evidential breath testing and is widely used by law enforcement agencies. Given the critical nature of the data, all blood alcohol data was stored in memory on the Alco-Sensor IV, printed using the DP1020 Printer for Alco-Sensor IV. s drank a mix of alcohol, tonic water, and lime juice.
